From my blog:

Ehh. My return to the world of a wrestling viewer might be coming to a quick end. Tonight's show seemed determined to suck out my will to live.

Things opened with that tool Carlito interviewing Hulk Hogan, which had been hyped all week long and so therefore was about as anticlimatic as you can get. Carlito insults Hogan's daughter for no reason, and Hogan knocks him out. So out comes Kurt Angle to bitch about still not getting the respect he deserves, and he also insults Hogan's daughter for no good reason. Long story short, Angle/Carlito vs. Hogan/Michaels later.

There was some garbage with Viscera as he defeated the 9th version of a gay tag team. The only thing of note here is that Lillian Garcia actually cried tears as part of her "angle" with Big Vis. Props to her for that.

Chavo Guerrero was traded from Smackdown to Raw last week, and so someone decided he needed a gimmick. What does he get? He renounces his hispanicness and becomes a bald white guy. No, seriously. His new name is Kerwin White, and he wears a sweater around his neck (you know, like white people do). What any of this has to do with wrestling is beyond me.

Then there was 30 minutes of nothingness, in the form of the Raw Diva Search. Maybe this is tittilating to the 12 year olds who are watching at home, but adults have access to porn, and when we tune into a wrestling show we kinda want to see wrestling. This is the kind of crap that killed my beloved WCW. Anyway, they want us to go to WWE.com and vote for which one we want to waste our time on a regular basis.

At one point, there's a match between Val Venus and Rene Dupree. On Raw. Live. Monday night. That's a Sunday Night Heat match at best, and instead it's showcased on Raw. Ugh. Didn't they set up a match last week between Tajiri and Chris Masters? That wasn't even mentioned.

The tag match was exactly what you expected it would be, except that during the post-match posing, Shawn Michaels superkicked the hell out of Hogan. The reason? All Hogan's friends turn on him. All of them. But who knows what the WWE will give us as the reason. Tune in next week to find out "Why Shawn Why?".

Holiday shows are always weak... half the wrestlers have the day off, and perhaps a good portion of the staff too.

Yeah you could tell some of the tech staff was off. Several times on-air graphic wipes would cause them to fade to black, and taped pieces played with no sound and in fast forward.

Caucasian Chavo is just creepy now. This is like a gimmick from the old days, and it will probably be less successful than Simon Dean. I never realized that we white folks were so....fem.

Bikini Boot Camp was the expected car wreck. Can you believe one of the girls was so dumb she didn't even know how to do a potato sack race? And this was after five girls had already done it!

Carlito and Angle weren't exactly insulting Brooke Hogan, they were insinuating how they would like to have sex with her. I'm not sure why Hogan would allow his daughter's name to be used like that.

I miss Regal & Christian.

This was a horrible Raw even for a holiday show. What do you think they are going to do with Big Show? Will he get an actual storyline or will he be stuck being tag team partner of the week for various wrestlers?

Kinda, sorta. All depends on what they give as the reason for it.

thoughts on RAW...

I saw the first episode of Hogan Knows Best (On Demand). It's a pretty good show. Check it out...

"Wow! Wow!! Wow!!!" - Carlito... HA That got me to laugh.

You know what, I'm actually laughing at this... Carlito's growing on me. That was pretty funny.

Even Angle... They are going after Brooke with both barrels. HA

Kane's not gonna have anything to do if they decide to bring back Matt Hardy...

This tag match doesn't really interest me...

These two are so lame... Lilian's not bad at the crying on cue thing.

Antonio & Romeo... Who thinks this shit up???

So Chavo's changed himself from Hispanic to Gay???

Dumb Maria... That's pretty funny.

Glad to see they didn't scrap the Highlight Reel...

These two are pretty funny together...

Jericho & Cena should be a decent feud...

Bikini Boot Camp...

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA SHE FELL!!! HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

Nobody likes Coach... What an ass...

Let's see 'em all jump...

Lelya's tits fell out!!!! HAHA

Who cares who wins... Let's see some more clothing accidents...

Cameron's having all kinds of problems... I'm gonna guess and say Alexis is the first one voted off...

Remember when Val Venis was considered a "star"???

Rene's mustache makes it look like he's got shit on his face...

Of course Val jobs, again...

Since they've shown at least one ad for it every break, I'm gonna say it to everyone... Go see The Devil's Rejects! It's gonna be fucking insane!!!

And now the match to get Carlito over...

Speeking of the reality show... I thought it was pretty funny when the guy taking Brooke out shows up to talk to Hulk, Hulk seemed annoyed he had to talk to him because wrestling was on...

of course Hulk gets the win... and it's another night that JR thinks we'll remember for the rest of our lives...

NICE! HBK turns heel!!! SWEET SHIT!!!

Great ending...

Damn, my fast-forward button on my DVR got a workout yesterday. Pretty much only 3 things seemed worthwhile: 1) CCC and Angle in the Cabana, 2) Y2J and Cena in the Highlight Reel, and 3) HBK's Superkick at the end. Although I felt compelled to watch the Viscera match and Chavo's interview in a car accident gawking kind of way. I find myself actually liking Maria's interviews -- finally, a great use of a moronic diva. Why did RAW go back to the 3-man announcing booth? They tried this before and it was horrible!

The HBK/Hogan feud could be fun. I don't know if there was off-air stuff with HBK giving his view, but I can easily see some good motivation. HBK started in the WWF when Hulkamania was huge. Hogan sold out the WWF for WCW (and Bischoff) while HBK remained loyal. HBK became a champ, annointed by Vince as the new standard-bearer (like Hart, Luger, Nash), but clearly didn't reach the heights Hogan did (it would take Austin to do that). This is despite HBK giving more of his body, and demonstrating more skill, than Hogan ever did. HBK is out of wrestling because of a bad back, but comes back, displaying most of his skills and winning another title. But Hogan comes back too, and the fans seem far more appreciative of Hogan than they ever did for HBK. Even in that in-ring celebration last night, HBK was clearly second fiddle. HBK would do the hand-to-the-ear thing to silence, and Hogan would do it, as if to show HBK how its done, and the crowd would roar. HBK could really sell this in interviews, and he's one wrestler capable of carrying anyone to a watchable match. Even Hogan seems to be in better physical shape -- it wasn't too long ago he couldn't even do his legdrop because of a bad hip. Of course, WWE is just as likely to blow the whole thing, having HBK just be suddenly "evil" for no good reason. Or a really stupid one -- like being jealous of Hogan's new reality show. After all, that's what the writers came up with for Victoria's turn. She wasn't angry because no-talent bimbos were replacing all the real women's wrestlers -- she was just jealous of Christy's Playboy shoot

Was there wrestling on the show? Between Carlito's Cabana, Jericho's Highlight Reel and the Bikini Boot Camp there must have been about 20 minutes to spare for some actual wrestling, don't ya think?

When Chavo came out, I thought he was Angle for a second.
to Lillian. That's acting, baby!
Sexual Chocolat.. er, Big Vis handicap match with the Heartthrobs What's the point?
Rene Dupree vs Val Jobber lame ass finish
Kane/Big Show vs Edge/Schnitzky got a meh...
HBK/Hogan vs Carlito/Angel.. another meh but at least Hogan hit the leg drop. And just when the cameras linger on the win for a long long time, sweet chin music comes out of nowhere.
Leyla's planned wardrobe malfunction.. at least she wore pasties on her nips.

4 matches for a 2 hour show.

I thought he was Willie freaking Garson.

This HBK turn could be a good thing, if they follow through. He was such a great cocky punk back when.

What a horrible show! The highlights of the show were the Cabana & the Highlight Reel which aren't even matches. Cena & Carlito continue to display thier awesome mic skills, but other than that, bleh. I did drop my jaw when Michaels turned though. That was the first time I've been thoroughly surprised by wrestling in a long time. There's a lot of potential for Michaels as a cocky heel or as an overbearing religous figure.

I liked seeing the ass of the first Diva contestant and the partial breasts of the second. Other than that, I wish I was the one that got to kick Hogan while he does his poses.
