This took me forever to set up. I have to give huh? for creating this thread during the weekdays.

In order to keep my sanity, I won't bother with the standings.

Edit - edited to say weekdays.

I encountered this line from the New York Times describing yesterdays ballgame at the Friendly Confines, just classic...

With the Cubs and the Red Sox in the same stadium, there was no shortage of self-indulgent rhetoric. For much of the day, Red Sox chants blended with Cubs chants until the fans could finally agree to direct their insults at the Yankees.

Lets make it 2-0 Today Cubbies!

Posted last night, so others can plan their fantasy lineups for Saturday:

Expect Randy (on my bench, and about to get waived if the Yankees can't get it together) to shut down the Cards.

Expect The Gambler (in my lineup) to fold @ Florida, while 2-6, 6.45 ERA, BB exceeding K, 1.76 WHIP Al Leiter (whodathunkit) pitches a gem to keep Rogers from getting the W.

Expect the winning streak of... wait for it.....
...The Oakland Athletics to continue Saturday, as Smoltz will be in my lineup, by what will be a dominant performance by Saarloos.

Quiz time! For all you baseball muscleheads. I need names of catchers who are easy to steal on. Basically catcher who can't throw anyone out....even if Pierzynski was running the bases.

Jason Kendall and Mike Piazza are at the bottom of the barrel this year. They are at about 10% of runners thrown out. Miserable.

Was that a replay? LaRoche singles to right, A. Jones homers to left ... lather, rinse, repeat.

Good thing I started Andruw today. I was this close to giving up on him.

Just as an FYI, Andruw plays in streaks. He'll go in huge slumps and then break out with 2 weeks of superstar play. He was in a pretty big slump leading up to yesterday when he had 2 hits and now today. If he holds true to form, I suspect he's about to go on a run.

Give me a break! Not to sound like an asshole but you are more than welcome to create the baseball weekend threads if you can do this better.

BTW, I didn't know how to link to the ESPN webpages, now I do. Check out the first score from this thread. You are happy now.

I wasn't singling you out in particular, I was just reminiscing about the good ole days.
