World Cup 2006 qualifying

Getting down to the final stages of qualifying.

Japan were the 1st to qualify.

Iran got through today and I think a few more places will be sorted by the time it comes around.

There are a bunch of games on today.

Big Jan Koller scored 4 for the Czech Republic in a 6-1 trashing of macedonia

Ireland have to beat the Faroe Islands to get back in the hunt in our group.

I'm rooting for two countries: South Korea and Paraguay.

Paraguay needs a victory against Bolivia tonight in order to stay in fourth place after losing their match on Sunday against Brazil.

I'll be shocked if anybody else roots for those two teams at the same time.

US-Panama result, for those waiting to watch the tape delay or who recorded it. Highlight to reveal: US beats Panama 3-0. Huge win for the Nats. Qualification for Germany is almost wrapped up.

I watched Netherlands-Finland last night. The Dutch looked very good. I predict yet another semifinal flameout against Brazil for them...

Paraguay won their match against Bolivia and it helps that Ecuador lost to Colombia. However, they are still in fourth place with the next game being against Argentina.

In Asia, Japan and Iran clinched their berths to the finals while Saudi Arabia and South Korea are guaranteed to take the remaining two spots.

Nice win by the U.S. last night - too bad they aired it at such a ridiculous hour.

Yeah, that was annoying. Me = tired. Still, great win for the boys, jumping out to an early lead and crushing their spirit by halftime. Keller was spectacular as usual.

das

Heard that Iran qualified. At the risk of getting flamed, I say glad to hear it.

Yes, because you've had so much luck with that in the past when you weren't hosts.

England will flame out as usual in the quarter finals. But it'll be fun to watch them explode, rooney and beckham in particular.

I am liking the dutch, but they too will probably self destruct.
