Sergio Mitre's gonna have to beat Roy Halladay just for the Cubs to avoid a sweep.

Let's go Blue Jays!

And we have our ace, Halladay, on the mound to go for the sweep of the Cubs.

Peavy on the mound tonight to stop the Padres 3 game losing streak. Oh wait, that means they'll have to score at least a run.

Is it just me or does anybody else think that Joe Torre is fucking up the line up on purpose! I mean come on already, Giambi needs to be benched. Matsui is hitting clean up, he can't hit shit. They have Giambi and Posada hitting after A-Rod, thats a joke. Posada is still the everyday catcher, even dough he NEVER hits the ball out of the infield. I honestly think that Torre wants to get fired. If they keep losing like this he will. The season is far from being over but I just cant stand to watch them play anymore

I fear there will be no joy in Wrigleyville unless the mighty Sergio can outpitch Halladay.

It's quite perplexing how the Cubs can take 3 of 4 from the Padres in SD and then turn around to face a possible sweep at home to the Blue Jays.

You could also look at it from a Blue Jays fan perspective that we lose 3 out of 4 to the A's and now we are one game away from sweeping the Cubs at Wrigley. It doesn't make any sense.

I would be very shocked if the call to use Giambi as a starter is Torre's. If it is, though, good for him. He's going to force Steinbrenner's hand. I'm not sure what you mean by Giambi and Posada hitting after ARod, though. Should they hit before him, or should it be Tino and Flaherty hitting after him? At this point, you can't believe that either of those are quality options. At least Giambi is getting on base, which Tino is not, but of course they're both in the everyday non-interleague line-up. And Flaherty is...well, on no planet is Flaherty in the same league as even a struggling Jorge Posada. That's just the hand the Yankees dealt themselves. I could see switching ARod and Matsui, but I'm not sure what more Torre can do.

I'm the first to say that Torre's perceived greatness is a product of what he's had to work with, but the NY media have picked the wrong time to throw him under the bus. I can't see how this can be pinned on him with what he has to work with.

I would move A-Rod back to the clean up spot and have either Tino, Sierra, or Matsui hitting after him. Torre had this going during their winning streak and A-Rod was seeing a lot of good pitches. Now that Giambi or Posada hit after him he's seeing a lot of pitches out of the strike zone cause the other teams already know that Posada and Giambi are a joke and no treat for any damage. I would like to see Sheffield hit after A-Rod.

Well seeing Vargas pitching tonight sucks. But I am going and get to see Santana pitch. That'll be a treat.

Talk about managers intuition, I dropped Burnitz from my team yesterday for Shannon Stewart. The Cubbies benched him today.

It's unfortunate, but not shocking for baseball. Run into a hot pitcher one night (and give up a key 3-R HR), lose in late innings the next night. And it's not like the Blue Jays are a terrible team. Too bad about the lopsided SP matchup in the closer, though.

Here's how the lineup should look:

Jeter
DH
Arod
Sheffield
Matsui
Tino
Posada
Cano
Womack

A cure to the Yankee's problems:

http://www.nj.com/yankees/ledger/ind...age=1#continue

If Brewers' first baseman Lyle Overbay is available, the Yankees should be listening. He's fairly young (28), makes only $446,000 this year and is three years from free agency. Plus, he's a doubles machine, and the Yankees have become too dependent on home runs.
Who cares if he's available or not. Just take him!

The Yankees need a run producer in left field, to go with Gary Sheffield in right -- such as Cincinnati's Austin Kearns, Florida's Juan Encarnacion or even Pittsburgh's Matt Lawton (who may be the most available one right now).
Maybe they could take a trip to Left Fielders R Us.

The Yankees must package Chien-Ming Wang for a starting pitcher. Wang will get hit harder the second time through the league, and his trade value is as high as it's going to get right now.
[Cashman] "So basically Im offering you a chance to make your starting pitching shittier. But look on the bright side, this trade will make my team better! Hello? Hello?[/Cashman]

That article is about as stupid as it gets. The author offers up names but gives no suggestions as to how we get them (Overbay, Lawton, Kearns, Encarnacion, etc.)

The Yankees should trade Wang and Posada....that's for sure.

I would guess Posada has little to no trade value anymore, unless the Yankees ay a team to take him.

Bottom of the fourth and the Cubbies are leading 2-0. Miltre is pitching a no hitter so far.

I'm keeping tabs with the ESPN gamecast from work.

Man, the BJays just don't look very formidable without Hillenbrand or Koskie playing.

I wonder how long Dusty will leave him out there for? Especially with their bullpen.

The Blue Jays hitters are looking pathetic today. To be fair, the rookie Aaron Hill has been doing a good job in the lineup replacing Koskie but why is Gibbons sitting down Hillenbrand.
