Be careful carrying groceries like Clint Barmes

Barmes breaks clavicle in fall at home

DENVER -- Colorado Rockies rookie sensation Clint Barmes will miss at least three months after breaking his left clavicle in a fall at home, the team said Monday.

Barmes, 26, the team's starting shortstop, will undergo surgery Tuesday. He fell Sunday night while carrying groceries up a flight of stairs.

Barmes was leading National League rookies in nearly every offensive category, including batting average (.329), runs (40), hits (74), doubles (16), home runs (8) and RBIs (34).

He was seventh overall in the league in batting average, tied for fourth in hits and tied for fifth in runs scored.

I wish he did that before the Reds went to Colorado.

Funny thing. My buddy had Barmes and Pedro Feliz (both SS Eligible) on his team. I traded him Jon Garland for Feliz yesterday and Barmes gets shelved today.

Why would you trade one of the better pitchers in the AL this year for a guy like Feliz? Did you need a SS that badly?

I'm guessing Scorcho doesn't think Garland will keep it up, and he's probably right...

Becaused I took a guess at what his reasons were, and agreed? Wow, if that's all it takes to bring up gay sex this whole place should be an orgy!

Note: That's an orgy I will not be participating in. Not that there's anything wrong with it.

Yeah I found this pretty dang funny. This injury is right up there with Sammy Sosa hurting his chest from sneezing really hard, and Kaz Sasaki (former Mariners closer) breaking a couple ribs carrying his luggage.

I think vdad's trying to infer that Jon Garland and El Scorcho need a room, about Garland "keeping it up" . As a sox fan (and a 20-1 proposition bet holder for the sox to win it all), I hope Garland keeps it up.

And Brian Anderson locking himself out his his hotel room, naked, trying to get the paper. And Brian Anderson holding an iron to his face to see if it was hot and burning it. I think he did something else stupid. Like cutting his hand opening a cd case, but that might be someone else.

My SS is Carlos Guillen, who misses every other day with nagging injuries. Plus Damon and Beltran sporadically miss time. I needed a decent offensive player to fill those holes. In fact, I might be using Feliz more than Guillen at short anyway.

And I don't think Garland will keep it up. He's coming up on the 2nd time through various teams. They'll have adjusted. In fact, I'd say they're starting to already. Garland has a 4.67 ERA / 1.38 WHIP the last 30 days.

Players like Garland you try to sell when they're high.

[Vince Coleman] Was accused, with fellow RBI'er Dwight Gooden and Daryl Boston, of rape in April 1992. The case was eventually dropped for lack of evidence

Missed the 1985 World Series after getting rolled up in the tarp machine

Struck fellow RBI'er Dwight Gooden with a golf club in the team's clubhouse. Gooden was forced to miss a start... I think the moral of the story is to keep Gooden and Coleman the hell away from each other.

I think it was Adam Eaton that sliced himself.

Def, I think the other Anderson incident was suffering damage to his elbow during a cab ride (not to be confused with Glavine's accident).

The Hill nightmare story is outstanding. Some of my favorites:

Former Dodgers pitcher, Rick Honeycutt, gets ejected from a game for scuffing the ball. In frustration, he wipes his forehead with the back of his hand. Unfortunately, the thumbtack taped there causes a severe scratch.

Marty Cordova misses a few Orioles games after falling asleep in a tanning bed and suffering a bad sunburn.

Ryan Klesko hurt his back early this year while standing for the national anthem.

Former Rangers knuckleballer Charlie Hough once broke his pinky while shaking someone's hand.

Chris Brown once missed a game with a strained eyelid. He insisted he slept on it funny.
