[2005] How will Danica Patrick do in the Indy 500?

This seems to be the only hype about the race this year, and probably deserved, as there really isn't anything to talk about.

Arguably, the female racers before her were in inferior equipment to most teams. The three previous women in the race were Lyn St. James, Janet Guthrie, and Sarah Fisher (5 starts). The highest finisher was Janet Guthrie in ninth.

She has qualified fourth of the 33 cars in the race. However, this is only her fifth total Indy start.

But she is, however, pretty easy on the eyes.

She's not just another Kornikova, is she?

I mean, sure she's pretty, but is she competitive?

And why are there so many photos of her that border on making her out as a dominatrix?

Tommy Kendall lost a bet to Danica, losing to her at the celebrity/pro race in Long Beach earlier. This was his punishment.

If she were in Nascar maybe. But the open wheel class seems to have a lot less of the Neanderthal element.

I'm gonna go on record predicting a DNF. It's a really long race, and usually a large portion of the field isn't able to make it. It could be a cut tire. But I don't have any proof she has the endurance to last through that level of racing for that long.

Though if she won, she could probably afford Hilary Duff Waist Replacement surgery...

All right. I'll admit.

I was wrong.

She survived and came in fourth.

And again, Title IX seems to really be making a difference to women's sports.

Well, I'm sad she didn't win. Looks like she's just another Kournikova.

Well, besides including the two that she swerved into and knocked out in lap 154, the 27 others, and the 2 that placed right above her were all losers of the race.

[Earnhardt, Sr.]Second place is just the first loser.[/Earnhardt, Sr.]

I do admire the way that she recovered from that contact though. That took some skill.
