So, if you wanted the "perfect" team, what would your lineup be?

What would be your dream fantasy lineup based on players today (through, say, the end of the season)? Do you think Dontrelle will keep it up? How about the bat of Andruw, or Barmes?

Feel free to include a UTIL spot, and a full alottment of SP and RP.

If I'm just using players today it would look like this:

1B: Delgado
2B: Kent or Soriano
3B: A-Rod
SS: Tejada
C: Pudge
OF: Guerrero
OF: Ichiro
OF: Edmonds
DH: David Ortiz

I'm going with these guys because they're proven. Having guys like Barmes is good if theres a salary cap in your league but I like going with the guys that you know will put up the #'s.

Rotation (in no particular order): Young arms.
Greinke
Peavy
Santana
Hudson
Sheets

Of course I wouldn't have Greinke and Sheets on a fantasy team since they lose a lot. I would instead add in Randy Johnson and Mark Mulder. I was thinking Clemens but he's not going to win too much this year either.

Bullpen: not going to go through a list of set up guys, but I would have Rivera closing.

Shit I forgot Cabrera. He'd be on my team instead of Manny.

Well, this isn't helping me TOO much with my mid-season draft tomorrow. I mean, unless no one picks up Pujols before me.

Him or Ryan. I'm considering K's per inning. I think Ryan would get more.

But Izzy? He's not a top closer. At least not top 7.

I'm not leaning towards Pudge at C. Maybe Varitek.

0.73 ERA 14GM 10S 12.1IP Also, he's on the Cards. The only problem may be his WHIP.

In that case, I change my rotation to Jon Garland, Kenny Rogers, Dontrelle Willis and Brett Myers. Best stats right there.

Garland isn't bad because he goes up against #4 & #5 pitchers. He just doesn't K enough. Those pitchers will probably go .500 - .600 the rest of the way.

Oh, I'd pick Gagne over Izzy. Forgot about him. Izzy had 47 saves last year, more than Gagne but 40 less K's. There is an injury risk too.

1B: Albert Pujols
2B: Brian Roberts
SS: Miguel Tejada
3B: Alex Rodriguez
LF: Barry Bonds
CF: Ichiro
RF: Vlad Guerrero
DH: Todd Helton
C: Jason Varitek

Bench: Gary Sheffield, Manny Ramirez, Derrek Lee, Miguel Cabrera, Bobby Abreu, Scott Podsednik
Rotation: Jake Peavy, Randy Johnson, Roger Clemens, Roy Halladay, Johan Santana
Bullpen: Curt Schilling, Lance Cormier, Arthur Rhodes, Eric Gagne, Mariano Rivera

That's my team. I think I have a good mix of power, average and speed for the hitters. The starting rotation has two lefties which is always nice. Schilling is my long reliever/spot starter. Cormier and Rhodes are the righty/lefty relievers, Gagne my setup man and Rivera will close.

(Shit, I didn't read the word "fantasy" in the title. I have no idea about that, but I'm not wasting this post so you are going to read it and like it!)

Nolan Ryan retired years ago though. I think he still could pitch, though probably not as effective as before. He could probably get Julio Franco, Ruben Sierra and Lenny Harris out consistently.
