Can I get basketball game score updates to my cell phone?

Hey all--

I am going to be at an important dinner next Sunday. I'd like to get text updates of the Pistons game sent to my cell phone so my girlfriend can keep up with scores every 30 minutes or so.

Is this possible?

I have Verizon

If you have a hotmail account, then you can sign up at MSN Mobile to receive sports updates. I do this for all the Spurs games. You can only have the score delivered at the end of each quarter though.

To get real time updates, you would need to have WAP internet services. However, the previous method I mentioned is the way to go if you don't want to pay anything. Also, each score delivery counts as an incoming text message. You will want to check with Verizon Wireless to see if you will incur any charges for this. Most likely it will be something like 5 cents a message if you don't subscribe to SMS services.

I used to have "MSN Alerts" for sports scores, though it would probably be every quarter, not based on time. Everyone already has a hotmail account, right???

Can you web-browser from your phone? I use espn to view baseball scores, they have a special low bandwidth for phones page.

At the absolute worse, you could excuse yourself from the table and call 1-800-555-TELL.

It's voice activated (which excludes it's use in places like a movie theatre), but it's pretty up to the minute. I just tested it out, by calling, saying "sports" and then "basketball" and it gave me a 76-62 Dallas lead over Phoenix (actual score on TV: 76-64)

go to mobile.yahoo.com

Sign up for an account if you don't have one. You can get text message scores for any sport. Good for when you are busy doing something and you can't be by tv or radio for the score.

It allowed me to select a score update after every quarter.

I wish it would let me select a time interval to get updates, but oh well.

The girl will be happy she can get her updates during dinner

Thanks guys!

No. I get baseball scores after the end of every 3 innings.
