The Nationals had some great attendance this past series with the Cubs.
Series with Atlanta and San Diego looks interesting.

Truths and Rumors for today:

Brewers third-base coach Rich Donnelly said he heard former White Sox and Houston manager Gene Lamont had a good shot to get the Kansas City job.
-- Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

Forget the Red Sox giving Johnny Damon any kind of contract extension during the season. Damon's off to the best start of his career and likes to promote the idea that the Yankees would come calling, but there are obstacles. He'll be 32 in November, he's looking for a four- or five-year deal, and his agent is Scott Boras, who just about always waits until the last moment to commit one of his players. One more thing, Johnny. The hair must go if you're gonna play for George Steinbrenner.
-- Boston Globe

Jason Giambi said he was "pissed" about the manner in which the Yankees asked him to consider a trip to the minor leagues. If he doesn't show significant improvement during the six-game road trip that ends Wednesday in Seattle, the Yankees are prepared to seriously investigate the possibility of buying out the rest of Giambi's contract.
-- New York Daily News

Should the Yankees simply cut him, only a handful of AL teams figure to have any interest in a low-budget roll of the dice. Giambi's ties to Billy Beane and J.P. Ricciardi make Oakland and Toronto possible landing spots, while Kansas City and Tampa Bay are desperate enough to sign anybody.
-- South Florida Sun-Sentinel

The Yankees are apt to go get almost anyone who can help. But one player club execs swear they won't trade for is the injury-prone Ken Griffey Jr. Unless Cincinnati will take Giambi, of course.
-- Newsday

Rumors persist in Colorado concerning the future of Preston Wilson, but in the interim here is another name to watch: Jason Jennings. The Red Sox tried to get Jennings from the Rockies a year ago when the pitcher was struggling, but Colorado resisted dealing him.
-- Boston Herald

The A's called the Red Sox within the last few days to determine the Sox' level of interest in first baseman Scott Hatteberg. The A's were told the Sox had none. Oakland wants to move Hatteberg's salary ($2.45 million) to make room for first base prospect Dan Johnson. But the Red Sox expect John Olerud -- currently getting into playing shape in extended spring training -- to arrive by June to help out Kevin Millar as a lefty bat and defensive replacement.
-- Providence Journal

Sammy Sosa's infected left foot is healing quickly enough for the Orioles' outfielder to hit off a tee on Wednesday. Sosa was examined by foot specialist Andy Cosgarea on Sunday. "They have to give it a chance to heal and then see how it goes," Manager Lee Mazzilli said. If Sosa does hit off a tee, his return likely would be five to seven days after that.

Dodgers fall to 3rd

Certainly shows how the Dodgers stack up against the stronger teams in the NL. Sure we can beat up on the NL West teams, but against the Cards and Braves, no chance

Wow, i would be surprized if the A's got rid of Hattieburg. It would be funny to get Giambi back, though.

Check the stats. The Dbacks actually have the best record interdivision right now. I think it's like 17 wins and 7 losses or something.

He meant against the sub-.500 teams in the NL West.

As of yesterday that was only one team.

Good. Hoping for a healthy Olerud.

Would rather the Sox spend the money on a low$ flyer on Scott Strickland; Mets failed to call him up before the MLB-callup deadline, so h'es technically now a FA; tho the two sides supposedly have a gentleman's agreement to continue exclusive negotiations for another week.......

He won't continue at this pace, that's for certain. If he gets the majority of the at-bats the rest of the year though, I easily see him hitting 30+ HR's.

Well, i've been a Tino fan for a LONG time. And I was probably the only Yankee fan who didn't celebrate when Georgie unceremoniously ditched Tino for Giambi.

I'm glad he's back.

Well, in the last 8 games, he has 8 HR and 19 RBI.

My sorry Astros (as a team) had only 10 HR in the last 9 games, and that includes the 4 yesterday.

So I'll ride him like a government mule while he is on the streak, but I'm prepared to bail if need be. He is, however, doing quite well in my Util spot the time I have had him.

Gotta love Ralph Kiner:

Ralph: Boy, do you remember the plays he (Brooks Robinson) made in the World Series?

Other guy: Yeah, actually it was against these Reds.

Ralph: Also against the Mets back in 86.

Its nice to have the Mets back on t.v.

I feel bad laughing since the poor guy had a stroke, and it has obviously effected him a lot, but he provides some great one liners.
