The Official ECW "One Night Stand" PPV Thread

Tickets go on sale this Saturday and the official site is now up: http://www.wwe.com/shows/ecw/

I know I'll be ordering the PPV. I just hope it's not over $45.

Let the discussion begin.

If WWE can use Raven from NWA-TNA and RVD is able to wrestle it will be awesome if not then it will just be great.

Anybody else like what they're doing with the whole Bischoff thing?

I would order the PPV to see you get hit by a steel chair.

From 411mania.com

- The plan does appear to be to have Eric Bischoff and some non-ECW connected RAW talent appear at the ECW One Night Stand PPV to work some type of angle.

You knew this had to happen... This PPV probably started as a awsome idea, but then they realized most of the ECW guys they own can't perform at their ECW level... And the ECW guys they don't own won't work for Vince & have signed up for Shane Douglas' show 2 nights before.

The Bischoff invasion angle is bullshit and a prime example of how it's gonna be a watered down ECW show... Let me guess, TAZZ will be the commentator...

He's who Shane Douglas has...
Joey Styles calling the show.
3-Way Dance: Douglas (w/Francine) v. Terry Funk v. Sabu (w/Bill Alfonso)
Raven v. Sandman
Jerry Lynn v. Justin Credible
Kid Kash v. CW Anderson
The Eliminators have issued an open invitation to any tag team

Plus....
2 Cold Scorpio, Pitbull Gary Wolfe, Axl Rotten, Don "Cyrus" Callis, Joel Gertner, Tommy Rich, Tracy Smothers, Roadkill, Danny Doring, Chris Chetti, JT Smith, and Mikey Whipwreck have all been officially added to this already stellar lineup!

This kind of leaves Vince with a very small group to choose from and WWE still hasn't posted any matches, as far as we know Benoit & Tajiri are the only ones on the show. And with the Bischoff ban, it's just pretty rediculous... Basicly if they're not currently under WWE contract, don't get your hopes up of seeing them. Shane works for NWA-TNA and that whole group has been signed up for his show.

edit http://www.hardcorehomecoming.com/ is the site of Shane's show.

That does sound like an incredible lineup...

Forgive me for not knowing much about this PPV: is this being promoted on the regular WWE shows? I assume Bischoff banned his side from participating, so who does that include?

Even if some non-WWE talent were on this PPV, I can't see Vince putting them over his own guys.

Who does Vince have anyway?
Tajiri and Benoit
RVD: haven't seen him lately
Dudleys: ditto
Rhyno/Rhino: released
Tazz/Taz: doubt he's in wrestling shape
Foley?

and on a side note... whatever happened to Mike Awesome?

Wow that show sounds just like old school ECW.

I don't see anything about PPV though. Is it not going to be a televised show?

I don't think they're doing a PPV instead, they're putting a DVD out very shortly after. They're obviously not being aloud to sell it as a ECW show either...

"Hardcore Homecoming" & "The Arena"

I bet Vince was a kid that didn't like to share his toys...

Vince's "ECW Roster"

Chris Benoit
Chris Jericho
Jerry Lawler (if you count the '97 invasion angle)
Lita (Miss Congeniality/Angelica) (knee surgury Jan. '05)
Simon Dean (Nova)
Steven Richards
Tajiri
Dawn Marie
Eddy Guerrero
Nunzio (Lil' Guido)
Joey Mercury (Joey Matthews)
Psicosis
Rey Mysterio Jr.
Rob Van Dam (knee surgury Jan. '05)
Spike Dudley
Super Crazy
Tazz (no interest in wrestling anymore)
The Dudley Boyz
Dean Malenko (not active/road agent)
Paul Heyman
Steve Austin (not active)
Tommy Dreamer (not active/booking agent)
*Theresa Hayes (Beulah McGillicutty)* (not under contract, but is married to Tommy Dreamer)
Al Snow (trainer)
Lance Storm (retired/working as trainer)
Johnny Swinger (developmental deal in OVW)

All in all, the WWE's "ECW Roster" blows in compairison to Shane Douglas' Hardcore Homecoming... The guys people want to see are either injured or have no interest in getting back into the ring.

I've also heard that Rhyno & Steve Corino have made it public that they don't want to take part in either show... Something about ruining the legacy.

A few names that I'm interested in hearing about that haven't signed to either side yet...
New Jack
Bam Bam Bigelow
Balls Mahoney
The Blue Meanie & Jasmin St. Claire
Simon Diamond (who's, as far as I know, still married to Dawn Marie)
The Sinister Minister
Jazz
Vic Grimes
Elektra
C.W. Anderson
Sal E. Graziano
& Gorgeous George

Whatever happens with the show, i'm sure will be worth the money. It'll probably even be better then the non-major WWE shows.

That's a lot of people... unless it's gonna be 10 hours long, are we just going to have cameos?

Also lets remember that the IMDB isn't the most accurate of websites when it comes to movies/events/etc in pre-production. Some of those guys probably won't be there.

Last I heard, Joey Styles wasn't confirmed nor did he show any interest at all in calling the PPV. In my opinion as an ECW fan since 96, that's a death blow if they're trying to make this feel like an authentic ECW show.

Quite frankly, I don't think either show should happen as neither show is being booked for the love of ECW and both could probably end up tarnishing the ECW legacy.

Put it this way though, a lot of the guys on the show like Heyman, Dreamer Benoit have a strong love and/or respect for ECW and they have a ton of pride in what they do. Regardless of what happens, Benoit, Jericho, Dreamer, Tazz, Tajiri, etc are going to put on a good show.

In the special edition ECW Magazine that hits stores next week, the following is stated about the One Night Stand PPV.

One Night Stand "will not be a polished, politically correct version of ECW. It will feature a small crowd of loud, hardcore ECW fans, a limited number of cameras, and a collection of familiar faces, including former ECW stars, referees, and other personalities who haven't been seen on TV in some time."

Tommy Dreamer also hints in the magazine that, like traditional ECW shows, very few (if any) matches will be announced ahead of time.

WWE will also be releasing ECW One Night Stand hats, t-shirts, and hockey jerseys with the ECW logo on the front and PPV information on the back.

I find it very interesting that Sabu, The Sandman, and barbed wire were mentioned as often as they were on RAW Monday night. Very interesting indeed...

Will the Dudley Boys be allowed to insult and anger the crowd the way they used to ? Will Joey Styles be brought in to call the action ? Can Tommy Dreamer talk Beulah into returning for a One Night Stand of her own ? I can hardly wait until June 12 to find out

I don't know how the show will be... My thoughts change by the day. All I know is, DAMNIT! It's always great to hear Paul E. talking shit on the mic! Love it.

Not enough credit was given to Monday's appearance of McMahon, Bischoff and Heyman. It was pretty surreal having all three owners in the same ring for the first time.

A lot of folks hated it but personally I was loving every minute!

Heyman is great when they let him run with things. He has no business sense but the man knows what to put on a Wrestling show and how to pull of characters and angles. Truly one of the greatest feuds of all time in wrestling was Raven vs. Dreamer (Raven vs. Sandman is right there too along with Ric Flair vs. Dusty Rhodes). NO WAY would you ever see the kind of stuff from ECW in WWE but yet WWE will shove stupid bimbos and ridiculous/raunchy sex crap down your throat all day (think Trips as Kane and the Katie Vick story line and more).

I miss ECW!

Greg

I couldn't agree more... That was one of the best segments WWE has run in the past few years.

I'm still up in the air on what the PPV will be like. I just hope "the company" backs off enough to let Paul & Dreamer book a good show.

We'll wait and see...
