Anyone here know why Matt Morris didn't get his first start until 4/13 this year?

The AL West is awful after years of being one of the best divisions in baseball.

A's - lost all their pitching.

Seattle - gave Beltre waaaay too much credit. He's a flash in the pan.

Rangers - didn't even try to improve their pitching in the OS

It won't be long before Anaheim runs away with the division. I'm guessing by all-star break, you will see a noticable lead develop.

A's stlll have a sorry ass Moneyball offense. Keeping Chavez over Tejada is turning out to be a big mistake. I guess they didn't care for Tejada's intangibles.

The Angels have to be one of the biggest disappointments, only 2 more RS than RA... Their GM sucks and has yet to make a good trade.

I don't think they could've predicted Chavez starting out this bad. He's gotta snap out of it sooner or later. Although, even when he does, he won't have much help in that lineup.

Those beech wood bats that Dunn has started using are really helping him. There was a good article on last week's Sporting News Weekly about it.

Which is why I think they will open up a big lead soon. They are already in 1st place with a lineup that's still asleep. In addition, they have a dependable bullpen.....if you don't score in the first 7 innings, you're probably screwed.

Well I think you're probably right and Anaheim will win the division, but I expect the Rangers to hang with them. There starting pitching is much improved and they're actually getting quality starts from Chan Ho Park for the first time in years. The Rangers problem is that all but one of their middle relievers suck. So if a starter doesn't last 7 they have problems.

Shockingly the real reason the Rangers aren't in first isn't pitching but hitting. Michael Young is batting .070 points below his average last year. Soriano started off the season in a bad slump (although he's come alive in May). Teixeira and Blalock are both performing around where they were last year, but you'd hope for some improvement as they mature. Richard Hidalgo has been an absolute bust and he's currently batting .168 but still starts most games. David Dellucci has been the only real bright spot going from a PH to an occasionally lead off man and every day starter, but he's cooled off in the past two weeks.
