Miami traded Patrick Surtain to KC today for a 2nd round pick (46th overall, I believe). The two teams are also swapping 5th round picks in the deal.

I'm still not happy w/ the Niners most likely taking a QB. They have more pressing needs, imo.

Mike Williams and Thomas Davis for Vikings hopefully.... *Dream Draft from me*

But if Williams isn't there, I hope we trade down a little and get Williamson.

You know, I was listening to sports talk radio locally here the other day and I heard a good point brought up. The Niners should not draft a QB. They are pretty close to guaranteed to be in the bottom of the league again this season. If they are the worst team, they can draft Leinart next year w/ the #1 pick. Pick up a CB or RB in this draft and then you'd have a good backfield starting next year.

Word here is the Bears are talking to Washington about swapping the the 4th pick for the 9th pick and another pick. I don't know what Washington has left but Angelo said he would like to pick up another a 3rd rounder since they traded it last year. The deal hinges on Edwards being available at 4.

Last time we traded first round picks with Washington they wound up with Champ Bailey, we got Cade McNown

ESPN is reporting Washington is trying to put a package together (involving both Round 1 picks) for the #1 overall pick.

WTF?

I don't think there's a single guy in this draft worthy of giving up 2 first round picks to get at the #1 spot.

Rattay isn't the greatest, but the guy doesn't suck either. I don't honestly see how they look at their roster and say, "Gee, we really need a quarterback more than anything." WTF?

Niners' Depth Chart

The guy in the USA Today has Washington trading both picks to the Dolphins for the #2 (w/ the 'skins choosing Braylon Edwards). I guess I didn't read the article carefully enough, because I thought it was a done deal.

My feelings on the subject are quite known. The funny thing is that I don't like prime alternative either - a WR - Braylon Edwards. I vividly remember the last big-time WR who bought a $100K+ Bentley before the NFL Draft.

I vividly remember him, too. Particularly that catch he made in Ann Arbor.

I don't think either of the quarterbacks atop most boards are worthy of the number 1 pick (but I also think that Leinart is overrated as well - I never saw him throw to a covered reciever because his guys were always wide open.) Smith has more upside than Rodgers, but in my opinion, Jason Campbell has more "upside" than either of them. As a Browns fan, I hope Braylon Edwards is there at 3, but if not, I hope they trade down to 7 or 8 and take Derrick Johnson and gain another pick.

You're a Bama fan right? Don't count on any players getting drafted, besides they made more $$$$ playing for the Tide

Whats more exciting than the NBA playoffs? Watching Paul Tagliabue walk to a podium and read off a name every 15 minutes.

Sounds like a good dream draft, as for mine, it's Derrick Johnson and Mark Clayton. If we draft Williamson at #7, I will be fucking pissed!

According to rotoworld:

Many NFL observers believe the Vikings have Troy Williamson ahead of Mike Williams on their draft board.

I've read that its going to be tough to trade down in the draft this year because the concensus is that its subpar.

Keep in mind that it is probably a smokescreen but if they do draft Troy Williamson then I guess they wanted him all along.

Just read a couple interesting facts in TSN.

1. Teams (particularly those picking high) may be anxious to trade down this year (not only because it is a weak draft) due to the fact that CBA hasn't been extended so prorations can only be made over 5 years, not the 6 and 7-year prorations we have seen the last 2 years. As such, you will probably see more holdouts this year.

2. If Smith is the first pick today and Andrew Bogut is the first pick the upcoming NBA draft, would that be the first time that we see top picks from the same school in one year? I don't ever recall it.

Yes, it would be the first time one school had the top pick in football and basketball.
