How much could you have bet someone at the start of the year that Kevin Garnett, Kobe Bryant, and Lebron James would all be at home watching the 2005 NBA playoffs?

I make this prediction based purely on the health of the Spurs, if they were healthy I would pick them to win it all. I'm also not going to be shocked if Phoenix gets knocked out by Dallas. However, this is Shaq's year and I don't think anything is going to change that. The only team right now that has a real chance to stop the Heat are the Pistons, but we will have to see if they can keep their momentum going into the Eastern Conference Finals. Right now I just don't see them beating Miami.

I know that, but the Lakers are the team with ZERO chance. At least the Bulls & Kings are in the playoffs. You gotta be in it to win it.

to start, only three teams can win this thing: Spurs, Heat, Pistons. Any other team would have to most likely beat two of those three teams in a 7 game series to win it all - that ain't happenin' (barring significant injury to a player like Duncan or Shaq).

EASTERN CONFERENCE
Miami over New Jersey 4-1
Chicago over Washington 4-3
Boston over Indiana 4-2
Detroit over Philadelphia 4-1

Miami over Chicago 4-1
Detroit over Boston 4-2

Detroit over Miami 4-2

WESTERN CONFERENCE:

Dallas over Houston 4-2
Sacramento over Seattle 4-3
San Antonio over Denver 4-1

Phoenix over Dallas 4-3
San Antonio over Sacramento 4-1

San Antonio over Phoenix 4-2

NBA Finals:
Detroit over San Antonio 4-2

Are the playoffs in bracket or higher seed vs lower seed? Is Indiana going to face Miami is they win or Detroit?

How can Phoenix beat Dallas, but then San Antonio plays them in the next round?

It's funny to me to see the team with the best record in the NBA get such little respect on here.

that's cuz they don't play D which wins in the playoffs. They're like Dallas was a few years back when they had the best record.

People seem to forget the run and gun Laker teams of the 80's and 90's that were exactly the same way. Not a defensive oriented team and they won several championships.

it's a different era. Back then the average NBA score was much higher so defense wasn't stressed as much.

Hey, I'm not saying that the Suns can't win it all but going by history a run-and-gun team with no playoff experience probably won't win it all.

my bad good catch - I meant Phoenix losing to SA.

Reminds me of how some people try to cheat in March Madness pools by having a team get upset early, but then they mysteriously have that team show up winning in a later round - covering their ass in case the early round upset doesn't happen
