MLB: It's 2 weeks in and my team is already done...what now?

The frickin' Rockies are at it again - bullpen blowing games left and right, even though the hitting is still there. But as of now, its only been 2 weeks and the Rox are already 7 games behind the Didgers. Yeah, season's done. Usually the Rockies make it through May/June until they're out of contention. This is a new low even for them. Is this how Cubs fans feel most years?

So what do I do until the NFL starts? As with most sports, I'm mostly interested in just "my" teams and don't care to sit and watch other teams play, but I don't want to sit and watch 7 innings of decent ball just to see some flunky pitchers come in and give up 4 runs in the 8th and 9th--and do that almost every night.

Should I just bandwagon a new team? Keep watching and continue to discuss how terrible they are? Watch more PM crime dramas? Go outside more? Take up a full-time interest in online porn? How do I get through this summer?

Yeah you should jump on another bandwagon. I don't see the point of rooting for a team that has absolutely no chance of winning. And it's not like they've been good in the past or have a great team history (i.e Cubs, Red Sox). They just suck year in and year out. They wouldn't even be able to BUY a World Series (see Marlins in 1997, D-Backs in 2001, Yankees every WS they got in the past 10 years).
Which team were you rooting for in 1992 (before the Rockies came into the majors)? You should start rooting for that team now.
Fuck the Rockies.

As an O's fan, I have quite a bit of experience with this.

Watch the NFL draft next weekend. Bet the Triple Crown races. Watch the US and British Opens. As for the rest of the weekends, go outside and get some sun or if you are a shut-in, play on-line poker or read a book.

A $200 million team starting Tony Womack, Tino Martinez/Ruben Sierra and an old Bernie Williams.

I guess a shitty record is what you deserve if your hopes are depending on a fraud. (big ass pun there!)

Yeah man, a whole two weeks without being in first place. The horror, the horror. It's almost like getting outscored in the first 5 minutes of an NCAA tournament game

I distinctly recall the Yanks starting something like 3-8 to start the season a couple years back and they still won the AL east.

Nah, trying to buy world series titles is what the Yankees are trying to do now. When they were winning titles in the late 90's it was because they started developing their own talent(Rivera, Jeter, Bernie, Pettitte, Posada) and by making smart trades(O'Neill, Knoblauch, Tino, Clemens, David Cone) instead of buying high priced free agents like they are doing now and like they did in the late 80's and early 90's. Anyway, keep rooting for your team.

Oddly enough, I was never really a team fan--I was a big Eddie Murray fan and followed whatever team he played for...O's, Dodgers....(but NOT the Mets).

I grew up in Vegas so I kind of liked the Dodgers, but never really followed them much. I've always been a loyal team fan, so not sure if I could just switch, especially since baseball is my least favorite of the three major sports. With the strikes, lockouts, and horrible umpiring, it's hard for me even to watch. But even when the Rockies weren;t so great from 93-95, they were at least fun to watch. Now, they cycle through minor leaguers so often I couldn't even tell you more than 2 or 3 guys on the team.

No thanks. One crappy NBA team (Lakers) is enough for me.

I'm getting a kick out of the poor Yankee fans all distraught.
