That has to be rough on Smoltz, get rocked your first time out last week, then come and have an awesome outing striking out so many, then leave down 2-1 just like that after Beltran's homer.
Then Floyd goes yard.

Fuck, they take Smoltz out (well over 100 pitches though) and Martin comes in and gives up a 2-run homer to Beltran.

2-1 mets.

Dammit, now another solo homer. 3-1. And Smoltz may have given up the homer to Beltran. Can't tell on the ESPN gamecast, and my girlfriend took over the TV.

Smoltz gave up the homer, and got a standing ovation after they took him out.
Then Floyd homered off Martin, then Doug hit a double, then they took him out, then Wright hit the homer.

Thanks for the clarification. Guess they left Smoltz in a little too long.

Sucks that he pitched so well and is going to get another loss now.

5-1 Mets.

He probably wanted that 16th strikeout, to get his record. But who would have guessed it, he was pitching a gem.

Pedro still has a 2 hitter through 8 innings with 9 strikeouts. Looking great as well.

Pedro pitches a gem of a 2 hitter today....and the Mets are the last team in the majors to finally get a win.

Eric Milton is the prescription for a team in need of some power. Biggio, Bags, and Ensberg all go deep off of him.

Sucks for Smoltz. His 15 strikeouts will go pretty unnoticed now due to the great performance from Pedro.

The Orioles are leading the Yankees 7-1 in the 9th. I think I will just assume that the Yankees will come back and win. Maybe it will lessen the anger.

16-7? Or will they just squeek out the 8-7 victory?

Fine choice. But really, your odds are pretty damn good no matter who you choose.

NYY would be extremely wise to look seriously at Ted Lilly come July, whether it be injury replacement or spot starter considering how badly Boston shits the bed when he takes the mound.
