I was watching ESPN classic last night and saw when Alabama beat Auburn 25-23 on a last second feild goal. Was weird seeing Alabama win.

The Hokies should beat the Terps tonight, but this is one of those classic look-ahead games where VT always has problems.

I'm going to the Apple Cup this weekend. Washington has one this the last 6 times they've played. Both teams are pretty crappy this year, but Wazzu SHOULD be able to pull out a win against the crappier Huskies. You never know though, the Cougs have been pretty good about snatching defeat from the jaws of victory this year

odd recent bama stats

- Alabama is 1-3 against teams with winning records, beating only 5-3 S'thrn. Miss.

- Not since 1999, has Alabama beat a team that finished with fewer than 4 losses.

- Alabama is winless this season against teams with offenses ranked in the Top 75 nationally. Auburn is ranked 19th. Bama's "great" defense beat teams with the following offense rankings: Ole Miss (76th), USM (96th), Miss. St. (106th), Utah St. (112th), and Kentucky (115th). They also beat W. Carolina which is 4-6 is Div. I-AA.

- Since losing Croyle, Alabama is averaging only 89.3 yards per game passing the ball.

Bama does have a really good defense. What stat monkeys often neglect to realize is that if your offense sucks ass, you're going to give up a lot of points no matter how good your defense is. That doesn't mean shit towards W-L, but it does make it unreliable to judge a defense simply on whom they beat and how many points are scored in the game.

Auburn record vs. Alabama 26-36-1 .421 984 1208
-average score 16-19

But oh my is the Alabama offense terrible. To have a chance to win they have to do the basics perfectly. Auburn's team looks staggeringly good. On both sides of the ball. I have only seen parts of games, but on defense they look stupid fast. Shutdown Georgia deep for most of the game. And deep passes will only work as a surprise this Saturday.

We should expect that it will stay even early. But if it goes wrong it would seem midway second quarter. Alabama has to NOT turn the ball over. They had better have a short passing game and some serious running. Auburn better turn the ball over in the game a few times.

And the great part of college football (I am starting to appreciate it more and more, after being away for awhile) is that all teams can be rattled. 'Bama better get them rattled in the first half. You got a great team this year twikoff and Saturday I will see them play a full game. This has to be on TV. But the whole year is shambles if Saturday goes wrong. Damn college football can be the greatest show on earth.

dont get me wrong.. im not saying that bama doesnt have a chance.. it is of course a rivalry game.. you never know what could happen

but i would say auburn would have to come out flat, and never get it together.. and bama would have to play above their heads.
auburn will have to turn the ball over multiple times, and bama will need to play flawless, and not make any mistakes.

of course.. this is possible.. its college football and anything could happen..
on paper.. this game shouldnt even be close.. but thats why the play them out

everyone makes such a huge deal about cadillac and ronnie coming back for their senior seasons.. alot of people overlook carlos rodgers

carlos was definitly going to get drafted last year.. but came back for his senior season as well.. he is definitly the spark to our defensive backfield (although rosegreen's 4 interceptions against tenn was nice )

i saw a stat the other day about carlos that amazed me.. typically, carlos is matched up against the opponents top receiver. he has only been thrown at 48 times this season.. and only 12 of those passes have been completed..
so with carlos guarding the leading receiver for the other team.. he has only allowed 12 completions in 10 games... Carlos has a pretty fair chance at going in the first round now, thanks to returning for his senior season

although.. dont get me wrong.. its still pretty nice having TWO Doak Walker semi finalists sharing time at running back!

So who would go the Orange Bowl if Alabama, Baylor, and Notre Dame all win this weekend? Come on BCS analysts, we need some answers.

If that's how Beamer treats his friends (Fridge), I wonder how he treats his enemies.
