Will Adam Dunn get 100 strikeouts before the All-Star break?

And for those who don't know who he is......NO, he's not a pitcher. He has more strikeouts than he has hits. At least he has 22 homeruns to show for it.

7 Ks to go...He could easily reach 100 in the next series.

As long as he stays among the league leaders in walks, all his K's are no biggie.

Doesn't matter to me. The guy has an OBP of over .400 and a slugging % of .576; 22 HR, 48 RBI, and 49 R. If I were him or his team, I wouldn't care if he had 100K's by the break...

.984 OPS... I don't think Cincy minds the Ks. But yeah, he'll probably get to 100.

set by bobby bonds in 1970

Jose Hernandez (currently on the dodgers) had 188 in 2002

Bobbt Bonds also is tied for #3 at 187, with Preston Wilson (currently with the rockies), done in 2000

Jose Hernandez also had 185 (6th) for Mil in 2001 and 177 in 2003

Thome, M. Vaugh, Sosa, & Sexson are all high up on the single season career list

all time leaders

Reggie Jackson - 2597
Sammy Sosa - 2020
A Galarraga - 2000
Jose Canseco - 1942

other noteables:
Fred Mcgriff - 1876 (7th)
Ricky Henderson - 1694 (17th)
Jim Thome - 1621 (19th)

of course.. for alot of these.. you would also have to look at their career batting avg, and total number of games played.. (thats definitly why players like henderson are on the list)

So Dunn is on a record setting pace!

Jose Hernandez would have broken the record in both those seasons had his manager played him in the final few games each season. He didn't want him getting that dubious record, so he benched him.

If Dunn gets close and the Reds are out of the playoff race, I expect the same will happen.

no strikeouts yet tonight
but he did hit his 23rd homerun of the season

so even though he will have 100+ Ks before the all star break.. he will also either be on top, or #2 in the league in homeruns..
with an OBP of .405 and a OPS of .972
toss in 48 RBIs.. and i dont think many people will care much about the strikeouts
