Emmitt Smith Named Starter

Apparently, Dennis Green has the keys to a time machine circa 1994. He named Smith his starter, ahead of Shipp. This is the same Green that said that Shipp will get 1400 yds and 9 TDs this year.

What on earth is going on in Arizona? Granted, Fitz is going to be a very good player, but he bypassed areas of clear need to take him.

If you are a cards fan, it's going to be a very long year.

See fanball.com for more details.

If he stays healthy, McCown might set a record for pass attempts this season.

The Cards won't be as bad this year as they were last year. They are taking a step in the right direction. Sure, Emmitt Smith is certainly not the player he was in years past, but also the Cards offensive line has been beefed up a bit. This isn't the right move, but Dennis Green hasn't had a game yet, so it is tough to criticize him.

I say it's just a ploy to get the Cards some NFL attention. The team is basically ignored so he's just using this to put them in the talks.

I doubt it was for attention, but either way, Schipp will win the job sooner or later. It will be by injury or Smith playing like crap. The Cardinals are still doomed this year, though.

Attempts maybe, but if Emmitt is playing most of the downs, McCown will be running around alot. Defenses no longer fear/respect Emmitt as a big threat and instead t-off on QB.

I find it hard to believe fans are going to the stadium to see Emmitt Smith.

So what? Fans dont give a crap about that if he sucks. Who do you think the fans would rather see running the ball? Ill place my bets on Schipp.

Don't know if he deserves it, but I'm sure Emmitt will lose it at some point during the season. He can't be held solely responsible for the terrible offence they have there.

Looking at the Cardinals message board, their fans seem to think they will have the best offense in the history of the universe with either one of them.

I'd rather see Shipp run than a geezer, hall of famer or not.

Fans only go to Cardinal games to see the opposing team. Thats the only thing that has kept the team here all these years.

The only reason the near sell-out crowds when the Cards played the Cowboys has to do with the huge fan following for the Cowboys in AZ. Now remember prior to the Cards moving to AZ every Sunday and I mean every Sunday the Cowboys were on local TV. This is the only reason the Cards ever sold out a game. Now I live in AZ and I just wish they would pack up and leave. They (Cards) are no were near a pro football team. The AZ State Sun Devils could beat these guys and the ownership is anther story.
