I hope the Diamondbacks play the Yankees tougher than the Padres did. That was pathetic.

Well, barring that implosion last night, the Pads did play the Yanks very well. They blew them out the first night, lost by one run the next night, and well last night wasn't so good.

Luckily the D-backs have their 3 best going: Webb, Fossum and Sparks!

Here'll sum it up for you. M's = last place, Giants not in 1st place. That should do it.

I'll be in the club level seating just to the first base side of home plate.

It will be a night of mixed emotions for me.

As a lifelong Astros fan ('86 still hurts) I would like them to do well, but thanks to WGN, I've also been a slight Cubs fan (back in the Sandberg, Durham, etc. days).

I've never seen Roger pitch, so I hope he shows his "stuff". However, they'll probably play that shitty UofTexas Fight song, which might make me gag.

Prior is on my Fantasy lineup, so I desperately want him to get his first W of the season (used a high ranking spot to get him, my fault not knowing about the injury in time), lots of K's, and great WHIP and ERA (like his first outing). But I can't cheer too loudly for him, what with me showing up in an Astros shirt and all.

My prediction for the game.... Cubs take a 2-0 lead on a two run shot by Hollandsworth (also in my lineup) in the 4th. Each pitcher with 11 K's before being brought out for relief in the 7th. Cubs relief allows one run to score in the eighth, and Hawkins gets runners on the corners with one out before working out of the ningh. Final 2-1, Prior getting the W.

Now, if Prior doesn't get the W, Zambrano better get one tomorrow.

Of course, since the marquee says "pitchers duel", I expect it to be 7-5.

Jesus, Y2K. What am I getting myself into? Pulling for a Prior and Zambrano win?

I'd be happy with either/or! *

I also wouldn't mind seeing someone throw at Roger's head!

Now... Must go pack!

* DISCLAIMER: As long as both had more than 8 K's, at least 6.0 innings, 2 or less ER, and a sub-1 WHIP.

Wow. I missed where the Angels sent Ben Weber to AAA. All I can say is, " 'Bout freakin' time! ". So, how has Ben been fairing since his demotion?

From the Los Angeles Times
Reliever Ben Weber, demoted to triple A on June 5, gave up six earned runs, five hits and a walk in the seventh inning Saturday night. The right-hander has given up eight runs, six earned, in 1 2/3 innings of two appearances at Salt Lake.

They should have just released him.

ESPN will probably cut to the Reds / Phillies game anytime those two come up to bat, so no worries.

Baltimore's pitching is just shockingly bad. DuBose lasted 2 2/3rds vs. Cleveland, giving up 8 ER. Javy and Tejada must be pumped when they look back at their decisions in the off-season.

Now Rick Bauer has given up 6 ER in relief and he's still on the hook for two runners.
