I'm not so sure... about the 2nd one. If a player plays, but walks all 4 times I believe that would indeed end his streak. Hitting streaks are not an official stat, so I don't know for sure, but it counts as a game played if he plays 5 innings.

When they were talking about Bonds' streak of games with a HR, he had a pinch-hit appearance in one game where he walked, giving him a 0-for-0 in the box score. Yet they still continued the streak.

I think the definition they go for for hitting streaks is that a player must have at least one official at-bat with a hit during the game.

So all the at-bats in a rain-shortened game that doesn't go 5 (or 4 1/2 if the home team's winning) are unofficial then, but count?

I think so.

If he goes 0-for-2 in a 4 inning rain-cancelled game, the streak is still alive.

If he goes 0-for-2 in a 5 inning official rain-shortened game, the streak is over.

No, they don't count towards season stats, if I recall correctly.

If the people were educated on what exactly "helping" a team build a stadium would in fact mean, they'd be more willing. Instead we get these idiot politicians that only say "We won't line the pockets of a billionaire." It kills me how simple it would be to meet the Twins demands for a new stadium that would hardly cost anything (at least anymore than they already give to large corporations like Target, Northwest Airlines, etc.) Donate land, give interest-free bonds and the income taxes from players alone almost cover the difference.

The Twins drawing 20,000 per game is pretty good considering it's indoors on a 75 degree evening.
are you insinuating that a politician wouldnt be making decisions based on what the majority want?

Well I think after the embarressing losses to the expos yesterday I think most of KC's fans and management have thrown in the towel. Look for the firesale to begin soon. If Beltran is still here by the end of june I'll be shocked.

Also The only reason to watch a Royals game, Zack Greinke is pitching sunday against Tom Glavine. Also both teams will wear Negro League jersy's that day. If you haven't seen Greinke pitch, you are missing out on a special pitcher.

jesus christ I'm officially in love with the ball girl on the left field line at fenway park tonight. Plus she made a helluva catch on a slicing line drive heading towards the crowd!

There's just something to be said for a hot chick with a ponytail and a baseball jersey on

Mussina leaves early with tightness in his groin. They bring Heredia in. Game over.

Manny Ramirez drops a flyball in the wind, and the Dodgers tie it up off Foulke

Edit: With 2 outs in the 9th no less

After wasting the first great pitching performance from Lowe in several weeks, the Red Sox pick up another interleague win, 2-1. Foulke blows the save on Manny Ramirez's error, but gets the win on Ortiz's RBI!

Go Padres!

Mariners facing the Expos and it's 0-0 in the 7th.

This could go on all night. Talk about inept offenses.
