Cardinals AND the Twins are tied for first in their respective divisions.

How many hitters are going to get hit in Wrigley today? I'll say five. The Cubs will get the first three and the Cardinals will retaliate w/ one. Both benches will be warned , and then LaRussa and a Cardinals pitcher will be thrown out when they hit the fifth and final batter.

Hopefully none. I'd like to see a clean ending to this series. Did I hear correctly that Dan Haren is getting called up today, or did I dream that up? I think I caught the end of something on the Midwest Sports Report a couple nights ago. Maybe they were talking about if Pujols went on the DL. I'd like to see him get a shot in Woody's spot for awhile.

I haven't heard anything yet. If I hear anything on the radio today, I will let you know.

Yep, they recalled him from Memphis and sent down So Taguchi. I'm happy they called Haren up, but I am really pissed off that they sent down So. There are a couple of outfielders on the team (that don't need to be named) that deserve to be on the team less than So does.

They are saying that Haren may start against the Cubs this afternoon because of Jason Marquis' ailing back.

They just mentioned on the radio that Rick Ankiel is ahead of schedule in his rehab from surgery and that the Cardinals are really looking at giving him a shot on the 40-man roster after September 1st. Very interesting. He has to close to being out of options - maybe September will be his last chance to prove himself and if it doesn't pan out the Cards will finally cut him loose.

There are about five players that would have made that dig last night on Nomar's throw that are currently on the roster or were just reccently demoted by the Sox

I just pulled the trigger on a big fantasy deal, and I wonder how you guys think I did:

I picked up Derek Jeter and Javier Vazquez for Jack Wilson (SS- Pit.), Pat Burrell, Matt Morris and Mark Redman.

At the very least, half of the league are Yanks fans (go figure). So, Jeter and Vazquez are like gold if I decide to trade them.

News and Notes: 6/10/04

* Reports out of the St. Louis Cardinals organization indicate that former phenom (and wild thing) Rick Ankiel is on the comeback trail and may be called up September 1st when rosters are allowed to expand from 25 to 40 players. While management is optimistic for Ankiel's return, the news comes as bittersweet as well -- The move will require that the first 15 rows behind home plate be removed altogether in order to ensure fan safety for all Cardinals home games.

* The gods of baseball have shined down on the league this week, as Raul Mondesi has landed himself on the disabled list with a torn quadriceps muscle. While Mondesi claims the injury happened while running out a grounder in Tuesday night's 17-inning game against the Brewers, inside sources have discovered that the injury was suffered after the game while trying to chase down David Eckstein to give him a spanking after he reportedly drew all over the walls with crayons again.

* The Seattle Mariners organization has filed a lawsuit on the grounds of trademark theft against the Anaheim Angels organization once it was learned that the Angels had only scored 2 runs in the last 41 innings of play following Wednesday night's game.

Oh oh

I had a career game last night

Here's the final line:

Scorcho's Team: 9
Coach's Bar & Grill: 7

WP: Old Guy (4-3)
LP: Fat Guy (3-4)

Scorcho: 4-4, 2 HR, 3 R, 3 RBI

And my two dongs were over-the-fence dongs, not inside-the-parkers.

Another step toward health for the Sox:

http://boston.redsox.mlb.com/NASApp/..._bos&fext=.jsp

Nixon moves up to Triple-A

He is hoping that things progress to the point where being activated for next week's road trip through Colorado and San Francisco becomes a viable option.

And in other news, despite the promise not to change the name by both Bank One and JP Chase Morgan, Bank One Ball Park's name will be changed before the beginning of next season.

I'm more exicted to have him back that Nomar. Our right field has been shit all year.

More rainouts today? The two games in Chicago are looking iffy on the weather map.

Maybe Cleveland and Detroit too.....

There's a delay in KC, but Doppler looks promising there.

And Texas looks clear. Phew.

Zambrano has a no-hitter going through four innings w/ 6 K's and only giving up 2 BB's. Cubs lead 1-0 in the bottom of the fourth.

Is there a rule that says teams must roll over and spread their legs for the Yankees?
