Schilling to the rescue? Hopefully, he can put an end to the Red Sox losing streak. Because if he doesnt do it, Lowe is starting tomorrow, which means a six game losing streak.

Wow, been a good week for the Yanks.

How many games above 500 are the Red Sox versus everyone but the Yankees?

I dont know what you mean. If you are wondering what their record would be if they hadnt played the Yankees, it would be 25-22. The Yankees would be at 33-13. The Red Sox have won 6 out of 7 against the Yankees so far.

No, the secondary game of the week.

Nobody gives a rats ass about the M's. The Astros/Cards matchup is the main one.

Well, you'll be comforted to know, that during his run as a D-back they kept this really cool stat. It was Schilling wins after a D-back loss. I think he won something like 90 - 95% of the games he started after the D-backs lost a game.

that's weird. I could've swore they advertised the Cards/Astros game last week as the Fox game, but now it's the Phillies/Braves. *yawn*

Now that I think of it, maybe I didn't see that. I watch the Cards/Astros last weekend, so I'm sure they wouldn't play the same teams in two consecutive weeks.

I'm always intrigued by what goes on in the minds of fantasy baseball owners...

Remember that trade yesterday?

The guy has Chase Utley at 2B. He offered Carlos Pena to me for Hairston Jr. I declined because I need OF help, not 1B help. Plus, Pena sucks. So I countered by offering him Kent to fill his "vacant" 2B job and asked for Burrell from his stocked OF, a trade that I thought was actually in _his_ favor.

He declined. With the following note:

You had an extra second baseman and had a so-so first baseman. Figured it was an upgrade of your current starter.
Now, I have 4 guys with 1B eligibility: Dunn, Green, Wilkerson and Lo Duca (I have Pudge as my main catcher).

In what universe would Pena be an upgrade over all 4 of those guys? Or even any of those guys? At best, he's a lateral move over Green and Wilkerson (but Brad's starting to heat up finally and will easily out perform Pena IMO).

Anyway, so now the guy is sticking with Utley rather than trading for one of the very best 2B in baseball.

Is it just me?

An important injury note from BP I wanted to share.

All along, I knew something wasn't adding up. I only hope I made it clear that I was confused. The case of Joe Mauer finally has a solution. Why did it take him significantly longer than expected to return from knee surgery? Because the knee surgery was significantly more involved, and had a more negative outcome. Instead of shaving the tears of the meniscus, Mauer had the medial meniscus removed. I'll emphasize this: The Twins' young catcher and top prospect now has no medial meniscus in his left knee. Even with new technology like Synvisc, a young catcher is going to take a lot of stress on that knee. I would be stunned if Mauer can stay at catcher for the next six years. I'm not sure where he might move or how this affects his value, but it certainly reduces it. Kudos to the Twins medical staff for keeping this one under wraps.
At 6'-4", Most people didn't expect him to remain a catcher for too many years, and this pretty much guarantees it.
