John Clayton VS. Sean Salisbury On ESPN

Don't you just feel sorry for Clayton when he does that nightly debate with Salisbury on Sportscenter? I mean, Salisbury just slams this guy with every chance he gets. I wonder if they've ever actually duked it out in the parking lot after a show. Don't really think Clayton would have much of a chance though.

This is part of what I don't like about ESPN these days. Everything over there is now about creating this phony argumentative atmosphere by having their talking heads compete in segments like "Fact or Fiction".

Salisbury doesn't have any nuts, so that method wouldn't be too effective. Give Clayton an ax instead.

Totally agree. The fact or fiction thing is super lame.

This segment is so stupid. It's like Pardon the Interruption except it's not funny, creative, or even mildly entertaining.

"Fact or Fiction" has been eclipsed on the lame-o-meter by "Word Association." Holy carp, that's stupid. They actually have the nerve to give some "say the first thing that pops into your head" preface when it's obviously all scripted, and then half the time it's not even word association.

Host: OK ... it's time for word association. Who is going to win the NBA Finals?
Panel Member: Lakers ...

WTF? That's not word association. It's just a question.

Geez ... lay off the stupid gimmicks and analyze the damn games already.

This is totally contrived. There's no real animosity. I bet most of it is scripted. Honestly, Clayton is like 5" 7', Salisbury is a former pro athlete.

IMO Clayton will always be one up on Salisbury.

It was either last year or the year before they were having their weekly "argument" on NFL Countdown. In their heated argument Sean jabbed at John saying "How would you know you never played in the NFL!" Which Clayton quickly responded. Well you never really did either. Sean never responded to that and they ended the segment after that.

that was classic.

I thought we would be rid of Salsbury when Dennis Green offered him a job as QB coach for Az. But unfortunately he turned it down..

I've seen interviews with them both and there is absolutely no animosity there. They said that after the shows, they are best of friends - it's all an act.

Sean was treated to clip board holder jabs on a daily basis when he was on the DP radio show, so I doubt it bother him that much.
