I'm stoked with WVU (alma mater) being 5th. I wouldn't put them that high personally, but it should be a great year. They return a lot from last year and have quality replacements at the few places they lost starters. Couple that with a fairly easy schedule with really only three tough games (Maryland at Home and VT and Pitt on the road, and all those teams lost a good bit) and they should win the BE where they were 12-2 the past two years (losing only to Miami both times).

I think WVU being 5th is something of a joke. I'm sure they'll have a better season without having to play Miami ... but 5th? C'mon.

You are really that stoked about WVU being ranked 5th in a meaningless poll (not even one that is used in the BCS) taken 3 months before the season starts? You hard core college football fans sure are an interesting lot.

Of course, WVU is very likely get the BE BCS bid. That is what I would be stoked about if I were a WVU fan.

It's good publicity. It's a highly read magazine. Can't hurt recruiting any, especially with any ongoing visits where they can take the magazine with them and show it to recruits.

So I guess I'm not personally stoked, as in being excited about it, but I was happy to see it as it can only be good for the program.

And I'm definitely more stoked about the BCS bid, but I've considered that near a lock since Miami announced they were leaving, so it's nothing new to get excited about.

As for the ranking, like I said, I think it's too high. But then again all the auto-BCS big teams are usualy in the Top Five so it's not that unreasonable I guess.

I can't wait to see what Chris Henry does this year. He ended up with over 1,000 receiving yards and average of 24.5 per catch and 10 TDs last year and he barely played in the first 4 games as he was a first year player. He should put up heisman type numbers if he's healthy all year.

Damn FSU is awfully low. At least this is Rix's last year so I have that to look foward to.

LSU is much lower than i would have expected

i would figure USC should start out at #1.. especially if williams gets reinstated.. which it sounds like he will

too bad jason campbell still is the most inconsistent auburn qb i can ever remember seeing. i guess it is good that ronnie brown and cadillac came back so they can make jason campbell's play calls:

1) draw right/left
2) toss sweep right/left
3) off tackle right/left

AND occassionally

4) qb draw right/left

So the it should be #2 OU and #1 USC. I think USC, LSU(their ranking shows this) and OU (not as much as the other 2)lost a lot of talent to the NFL this year, we will see what they have left.

I hope WVU is ranked #5.

They can't even hang with Maryland and it will be so much sweeter if they have some high ranking when we go in there and spank them again.

I imagine WVU will be ranked somewhere between 10-15 to start the season, and they should still be there when they play Maryland as they don't play anyone before them that would move them up as their early schedule if very weak.

I'm hoping that McBrien's graduation ended our slump against the Terps. He played like a man possessed against WVU after being ran out of Morgantown by Coach Rod.

They finished the season weak, and lost a good bit to the draft/graduation. They'll have to prove themselves first.

As a Georgia fan, I am not too excited to see them ranked so highly. I have spent many years with this preseason predictions, and I have been disappointed so many times.

This year, I'm taking it with a grain of salt. I could care less about rankings. I wish ANY rankings didn't come out until just a few wks were left in the season. THere is WAY too much emphasis put on them, and we all know that in college football (any sport), any given team can when on any given day.

That said, UGA hasn't proved to me that they should be this high. Yeah, Greenie is a four-year starter, but he's coming off of a sub-par year. HOpefully the O-line will be stronger. UGA doesn't have an established running back (I believe one is emerging, though). Gibson returns as well.

I think that UGA's defense will be their strongest asset this year in both Pollack's last year. SOme heavy hitters return, and there is also ALOT of speed. I believe there are some holes in the secondary, but with a strong pass rush I don't really think that'll be a problem.

I look forward to a good season of college football, and that game with LSU is gonna have Sanford Stadium ROCKING.

VT will likely be finishing around 7th or 8th in the ACC this year. They are not a top 25 team.

They certainly picked the wrong year to enter the ACC.
