Smallball 'Best of the Rest' Tournament XLVI

Best of the Rest: Pick your own opponent style

because of the lack of interest and amount of forfeits.. this season we will be trying something new..

Im going to post all eligible teams to the thread..

you can pick your opponent and start the game immediately.. once you start a game, come back here and post the matchup.
(this will continue for each subsequent round until we get to the final 2.. at which time we will have a 3 game series, with the higher seeded team chosing their preference)

at that point.. both teams will be scratched off the list. no team can be in more than 1 game in 1 round.
if we have an odd number of teams advance.. I will include the highest seeded loser from the first previous round.

Round 1 will end tomorrow sometime between 1:30pm - 3:00pm est.. Im not giving an exact time, so that teams cant be ready to pick the easiest second round matchups as soon as the teams are ready.

if a team is part of more than 1 game at a single time.. the lowest game number will count, and the other team will have to pick another opponent..

A fitting way to end my smallball career. Picked first in a pick your opponent tourney, then routed 9-1.

this way.. its MUCH less work for me to run the tournament
I dont have to deal with forfeits
and hopefully its a bit more fun

PLUS, it benefits the teams that actually play their games!

thanks

i was thinking about how much it was annoying me to put in all the effort to run the botr ghetto style.. when alot of teams werent paying much attention to smallball anymore..
and the other day, this idea just hit me..

it makes running the tournament a breeze.. and deals with the other problems..

for what its worth
right now, doppelgangers would be the highest ranked loser from round 1 (if we end up with a odd number of teams advancing)
so cope, you may not be out of this yet
and its possible the farmers might get to abuse you twice in this tournament

What happens if there are several teams still remaining who haven't initiated? Jst boot them, I assume? Only win if you participate, that's what I always say. But then... don't listen to me. I'm just in those lame-ass old school "playoff" things.

yep, boot them
if people dont want to play.. then there is a much less chance of slackers sneaking past the first rounds in mandatory games..

because if the slack team is any good.. most active teams would be smart enough to avoid them anyways
