I, Max Rules

Man, that show kicked ass. My two favorite people from AtH with even more face time? Sold. Loved the format too. Good to see the disembodied voice back also.

BTW, Lisa Dergan = .

I too thought the show was cool and funny. Nice to see Max took the disemobided voice and Michael Holley with him.

The punishment email was hilarious but I guess not everyone enjoys Kellerman's antics.

I forget where it was, but I saw Kellerman on some talk show where he was giving a "sample" of what I, Max would be like, and it was absolutely terrible. I went from being mildly interested in the show to completely dismissing it. I guess I'll go check it out now ... you better be right.

I'm really looking forward to seeing this show. I missed the first showing earlier because I was at school, I'll need to check tvguide to see when it comes on again.

I thought it was great. I'm sick of Reali and Marriotti on ATH. The show was on at 10:30 pm and 12:30 am here in L.A.

Aren't there some legal issues with him essentially transporting Around the Horn's entire schtick to another show? Sure, it's slightly different, but barely.

That said, it was damn funny, and I loved watching the Not-so-disembodied voice mock Kellerman when he said something stupid.

I was thinking the same thing but if they were Kellerman's ideas to begin with then he could export them anywhere he'd like (unless he was contractually obligated not to).

I don't get FSN. Could someone please give me a brief summary of the show? Thanks.

I might check it out particularly if Lisa Dergan is a regular part of the show. Frankly, I didn't like ATH because I didn't like most of the panelists, particularly Woody Paige.

It's a little bit light Around the Horn, but instead of 4 reporters arguing for points, its Michael Holly against Max during the first part of the show. Disembodied voice scores is like a boxing round for each subject. The second part of the show is Max debating with a special guest, and I think the final segment is Max answering e-mails. Max is (obviously) Max on the score card, and Michael Holly, special guest, and viewer emails are considered the rest of the World on the score card. May sound a little complicated reading this, but like I said, its basically Around the Horn with Max involved and less people.

Is anybody else turned off by the fact that the disembodied voice now has a body?

No not really. I do find it curious that the disembodied voice's face reminds me of Jack Nicholson's Joker.

Random other question, Kellerman mentioned that Holley is no longer writing for the Boston Globe. Anyone know what happened there?

My guess is that whoever runs I, Max offered Holley the job as permanent co-host and wanted him to quit the Globe and Holley was too busy for the Globe to do I, Max. Maybe he has a creative role on the show now.

I saw his show the other day, and I prefer Around the Horn over it by far...

I figured I'd bump this. Any regular watchers noticing the format change? Lame! Bill Wolff no longer participates in the majority of discussions, and has been relegated to the last 5 minutes for the Knockout Round. Personally, Wolff's interactions with the hosts are among my favorite parts of the show, and now there is a bland feel. The game aspect is all but gone, and now it has become a PTI clone.

Meh, when are people going to learn that if it ain't broke...?

I liked it when they changed from the 10 point "must" system for each round to a simple 1-0, but I *really* don't care for how they've taken Wolff out of the show or how they've stopped scoring rounds. The format is supposed to be sports discussion to earn points -- guys (the majority of viewers) like the competitive nature of having to score points to "win" the 30 minute debate. Taking that away makes it just another sports talk show, like PTI.

Bring back Wolff and bring back the points!

Yeah, I really don't care for the new format. There is less Michael Holly and less Bill Wolff. The three of them interacting is what made the show enjoyable. Hope they return to that format.
