Will Kobe Bryant plead guilty next week?

... it will be the only thing that may save him from the Spurs.

From TBDSP,P:

(paraphrased)

OJ Simpson is happy to see Payton struggle for the Lakers. It means he's finally found the other glove in Los Angeles that doesn't fit.

If I can be serious for a minute, I think Kobe will plead guilty to an affair but not guilty to rape and the prosecution will be forced to seek a plea deal if Adam Schiff has his way.

Having an affair is not against the law and he has already admitted to that... That's not what he is charged with.

And I agree that he will say not guilty to the rape charge.

If Kobe stays with the Lakers next year then he isn't guilty...

If he doesn't then he could rot in jail for all I care.

That's seriously

Anyway, back to topic, what kind of a plea deal can they work out? I doubt Kobe will take any felony deal.

Well, where I live in the U.S. having more than one wife and same sex marriages are illegal but obviously those are legal in some parts of the U.S. I don't know what Colorado laws are concerning affairs.

Well, see here, we're pretty unedumacated in Coloraddy, and we don't take kindly to any unethical or immoral behaviors. But I think if we wuz fixin' to put folks in jail fer cheatin' on their womenfolk, we'd have some pretty full jails, I reckon.

I'm not making any judgment about him or his moral character or what he did or did not do.... As far as the case goes....

If he loses the motions today he'd be stupid not to look for an acceptable pea bargain.

If he wins he'll plead NG and will win soundly.

Where is it legal to have "more than one wife and [have] same sex marriages"? I would like a female wife and a male wife simultaneously.

You had to go there, didn't you? Funny whenever that comes up everyone remembers Julie Walker's name....

Actually, I was talking about two different states in that one sentence.

That's a strong agreement, LurkerDan.

There's as good a chance of him pleading guilty as the Lakers have of winning the series!

I agree. I'll be shocked if he's found guilty of any charges. I've barely been paying attention to the case, but it doesn't seem like there has been any additional evidence against him, and plenty of questions have risen about this girl's character. It would just make more sense if she was some nutjob looking to cash in than one of the biggest stars in the NBA to suddenly be discovered as a rapist with no previous criminal history.

Judge Bars Use Of Term 'Victim' At Bryant Trial

POSTED: 8:51 a.m. PDT June 1, 2004
UPDATED: 9:29 a.m. PDT June 1, 2004

LOS ANGELES -- Prosecutors, witnesses and other participants in Kobe Bryant's sexual assault trial won't be able to use the word "victim" to describe the woman who's accused him of rape.

In a ruling made public Tuesday, state District Judge Terry Ruckriegle said he agreed with Bryant's lawyers that the term implies guilt and should not be used at trial. He said she must be referred to by name; or in jury instructions, where she must be referred to as "person."

The judge disagreed with prosecutors that "victim" is a legal label allowing the woman to take advantage of certain rights and state-funded services guaranteed to victims of crime.

Ruckriegle says he'll continue to refer to the woman as "alleged victim."

The 25-year-old Bryant has pleaded not guilty to felony sexual assault

Interesting. I guess the judge is acknowledging that there are some 'victims' out there that are not really 'victims'.
