Go Cubs.

Yeah, I was thinking about it today, and really, why not? It's just a matter of skipping to the _following_
< / table > tag, so it's no extra work, and it's nice to look ahead a day.

Cool.

Also, I appreciate you properly linkifying the pitchers' names as well as the team names. The Replace function comes in handy, huh?

It's as if he has found the fountain of youth.

Too bad he can't do anything about that rag arm of his.

Dammit. I was going to grab a ticket to the Astros game tonight, but I just got a bunch of "due tomorrows" added on at work. I found a single at field level behind home plate about 20 rows up, too. If Clemens gets 6 K's tonight, he moves into #2 on the strikeout list.

Steve Carlton, I believe.

Yep. From ESPN.com:

RHP Roger Clemens needs six strikeouts to pass Steve Carlton (4,131) to move into second place on the all-time strikeout list.

Perhaps after tonight, everyone will have to officially stop calling Hudson, Mulder, and Zito the "big three." Zito's 12-6 curve has now become his 12-450ft.

3. 4131 Roger Clemens
4. 3913 Randy Johnson
5. 3701 Bert Blyleven
6. 3640 Tom Seaver
7. 3574 Don Sutton

Ortiz = The Red Sox offense.

4-3 early, but Ortiz has 2 HRs and 4 RBI.

I feel so alone.

Clemens was in all kinds of trouble in the second, but came away unscathed. He needs 4 more to pass Carlton.

So there was an amusing play in the Padres-Braves game a bit ago.

Runner on 3rd base for the Braves, and as David Wells begins his pitching motion, he knocks his cap off his head. The cap hangs on his right shoulder and completely blocks his vision of home plate. But he can't stop his motion because he'll balk the runner in from 3rd. So he continues with the pitch, unable to see anything but the inside of his cap and he drills Marcus Giles on the elbow. In a way, he was very lucky because if the pitch was too wild, it would have gotten away and the runner would have scored from 3rd as well. If it was just an easy pitch somewhere near the strike zone, Giles could have smacked the shit out of it.

I'm sure it'll be on sportscenter since it's a pretty unusual play.

Clemens update:

He needs 2 more strikeouts, but he is not pitching very well.

Edit: Clemens tied with Carlton

On Kip Wells' 2 strike bunt foul
