cubs have a national contract though
wont that game already be on wgn?

and as whotony mentioned.. i dont think anyone outside of those 2 cities would think of it as a rivalry, or care one way or another

Doesn't the ESPN contract limit the number of time they can showcase a particular team? (I though that was the case.) If so, wouldn't you want to save those games for later in the year if possible.

A Red Sox/Yankee game would be watchable, but i could care less about the Cards/Cubs. They have a rivalry? Shrug.

If you're team misses the playoffs by 1 game, then these games count.

when 2 teams play aren;t the games always only going to be interesting to the 2 cities where they reside... at least with rivalry, national interest can be brought in.. i live in tx and could not care about the cards or the cubs.. but put them together i would rather watch them, then say 2 teams that have no rivalry like San Diego and Milwaukee

Hey, it may not be a rivalry or hold much interest to anyone else, but how many times can I say I got to see the Rangers on ESPN? Plus I got to see the Rangers finish a sweep of the Red Sox on ESPN. That was some good TV

WGN carried the game. That's good enough for me. I would have rather been able to watch it on Fox Sports Midwest, but I'll take it however I can get it. Unfortunately, I had to leave before the bottom half of the 10th. Can't really blame ESPN though. I don't care to watch any non Cardinals baseball this early in the season. Red Sox/Yankees makes sense to them because of the hype carried over from the playoffs and the ARod trade.

Or maybe it's a West Cost thing. A lot of people out here are clueless as to what happens east of Vegas.

True...but I'm from New England and I even knew how big this rivalry was ... but I love baseball

And as I posted here last year St. Louis has become one of my favorite places to see a ballgame....the fans, experience is great.

Are you serious?

Three biggest baseball rivalries:
1. Yankees - Red Sox
2. Cubs - Cardinals
3. Dodgers - Giants

I'm a pretty big Dodger fan... and pay attention to most of the big games and what not. But like twikoff, i don't see much hoopla around the Cubs/Cardinals either.

Then again, it probably is a West Coast thing... at least for me I'll admit to that.

That could turn out to be a good rivalry. Same with Angels-A's. Well ... only if they're capable of really hating each other.
