Does he have any money left? I figure his lawyers have it all by now and it sounds like they earned every dime of their fee as well.

I guess he could be re-tried on the reckless manslaughter charge which would of course cost him more cash.

The charges he was found guilty on are relatively minor.
Doubtful he will serve any jail time.

He was found not guilty for aggrivated manslaughter, guilty on the 4 lesser charges, and the jury was hung on the reckless.

As Phil L. said above, was watching FOX News, and they said that unless they retry him on the reckless manslaughter charge, he's not serving any jail time.

There are four charges he was found Guilty on. These all have to do with witness and evidence hindering and tampering.

One Not Guilty and one No Decision give you the six total charges.

Yeah, ESPN said expect a suspended sentence at most, and expect the prosecution not to retry the reckless charge.

Which is great, because I just blasted a hole in my buddy, and I'd rather not miss work.

I was watching the live feed on Court TV and after the second verdict was read (No Decision on Reckless Manslaughter) the judge stopped the proceedings and admonished the audience to not cheer or boo.

Reckless manslaughter is declared a mistrial and will be "revisited" on May 21.

what does a no decision mean?

just that he can be retried on that charge?

thats not a 'hung jury' is it?

Basically a hung jury. With no verdict reached, he can be tried again.

I think they said the 4 counts carry max of 16 years, but he could see around 5 years?

I doubt he'll spend any time in jail, but he'll be broke after the civil trial.

There wer actually 8 charges, he was convicted of 4, acquitted of 3, and the jury hung on the other one.

Actually the civil suit has already happened, and he had to shell aout about $2.75 million to the brother and sister of Mr. Christophe. Did anyone else watch this trial on Court tv? While I felt the aggravated manslaughter was an overcharge and probably wouldn't stick, and just don't get how the jury was hung on reckless manslaughter. I thought his guilt was obvious, so maybe the jury watched a different trial than I did.

That's what all the legal experts on the various news programs that I watched tonight said. All of them seemed to think that there was a preponderance of evidence and that it was a virtual lock that he would be convicted. I didn't personally watch any of the trial, but in the updates on the news that I saw, I believed he was going to be convicted.

Just to be precise here: the prosecution had to prove more than a preponderance of the evidence. That's the burden in the civil trial. In a criminal trial, they must prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt, way way harder.
