NFL Draft Re-do

There were many strange choices and moves in the NFL Draft this weekend. If you could re-do a selection for a team, what would it be? The only rule is that the player must have been available at your slot and you can't trade up to get them.

I'd have prefered the Raider's have taken Fitzgerald over Gallery.

I'm sure Gallery will be great, but one lineman (even if he's the best in years) can't have as much impact by himself as a receiver like Fitzgerald (who is the best I've seen in years).

maybe
but a receiver is a much bigger gamble

and its tough to use a receiver, when your qb is always on his back

build up a solid line.. and any schmuck can sit back there and pick apart the defense both through the air and on the ground

True, but one lineman doesn't make a solid line. They got Grove in the Second round, and are close to getting Allen from the Cowboys.

Thus, I'd have taken Fitzgerald as the line should be fine with the other two pickups plus what they already had.

He's just a great talent. He's not one of the speedster's types, but more of a Jerry Rice type who just has that unteachable knack for getting open and catching the ball.

I would have the Seahawks trade up two or three spots to draft Wilfork ahead of the Patriots. When he was still available after the Bears pick, teh Seahawks should have started looking to move up into the late teens. I know they tried trading up, but it was too late by that time.

Other than that, no complaints.

My personal ones:

Giants should have taken Roethlisberger over Rivers. I don't know why they bailed out the Chargers and gave up a ransom for Manning. They should have let Collins play out his contract and developed Big Ben.

Dallas will regret trading out instead of taking Stephen Jackson.

Jacksonville should have taken one of the top rushers instead of WR. They could have taken Deverly Henderson in R2.

Philly trading up and NOT taking Jackson or DJ Williams.

Let's make this all time. Ravens take Randy Moss and Samari Rolle over Duane Starks and Patrick Johnson.

Jets fans lets hear it.

Actually, Detroit should have taken Ben Troupe, TE Florida with their R2 pick instead of Lehman, and undersized LB.

while it would have been nice to add Troupe, they had taken 2 offensive guys already, and desperately need a linebacker or two....Lehman was the best on the board, and as Berman said: Small? whatever...the guy is just a FOOTBALL player...plain and simple." I like the Lehman pick a lot, and I think he'll end up being a steal at that spot.

Same with Butler....I just couldn't be happier with their draft, and like JMJ, I can't wait for August to get here!!

Any Colts fans want to explain the Sorgi pick for us?

The problem is that the Lions ALREADY have an undersized LB on the other side (Boss Bailey). So to me, it wasn't a good pick.

I would have preferred Tampa Bay select someone other than Maurice Clarett in the first round.

yeah Troupe would have been a nice pick, but with Barrett Green leaving to the Giants and the FA market being pretty depleted of LBs with Ian Gold (the best FA LB out there IMO) signing with Tampa Bay. I like the pick of Lehman. They pretty much got 3 starters in this years draft.

I would have liked to see the Vikes take a CB, possibly Poole when he was available in the 4th or 5th.

I wish the Packers hadn't traded up in the third round to select a punter. That is just plain stupid.

It's plain stupid to draft a P in the 3rd round period.

True, but the Packers need a new quality punter who can possibly pin a team inside their own 20 more than 1 out of 20 times. Josh Bidwell is a god awful punter and he just was not getting the job done. Plus they have 19 of 21 starters returning this year, so they didn't exactly need to shore up any of their starting positions in this years draft.

Sorry...I don't follow football that much, but why would the Raiders need to draft a receiver? Isn't that the area where they are strong in? They have Porter, Rice Rice baby, and Tim Brown. Don't Rice and Brown have a couple of good years remaining?
