Sorry, no standings today.

ESPN has them all screwed up. NY Yankees, KC, Texas, Phil, Cin and Colorado all leading their divisions?

I wish there would be regular day games during the week.

I signed up. How long is this for? It seems kind of shady. Is this for real? I signed up and there was a link that says "Get Sporting News for $.99 for 6 months." But why would someone do that if they just signed up for a fee sub. Oh well, worst case scenario is more spam and junk mail.

My Sporting News is actually ending after a free year through freebiz...I actually have a sub to about 14 magazines through freebiz, it's legit ... it can take 4 weeks and sometimes up to 3 months.

Damnit, Morris isn't pitching today.

Looks like the Cardinals will continue to lead the league in Runs Allowed: Suppan is starting @ Minute Maid.

Miller's going for the Astros, and despite walking the park at Busch, he's quietly been excellent early this season. But I'm not counting the Cards out with that line-up and those dimensions at the Juice Box. It may be a very high scoring game.

Of course it will be - the 'Stros have scored 90 runs and the 'Birds have scored '89. I'm expecting football-like scores the entire series.

Well, I thought Tim Redding was scheduled to pitch today (he's pitching tomorrow), so we may have been talking about arena football-like scores. I'm hoping Miller is on tonight, but I keep going back to the fact that other than a few pop-ups, it seemed like every out Pujols made in the series against the Stros at Busch was a fly ball to the warning track. Unless he's hitting those to straight away center this week, he and Rolen may take the HR lead from Bonds.

I felt so ripped off last night.

I stayed up watching the A's/Mariners marathon until Midnight and the god damn game ended on a balk by the A's pitcher. It was actually a double balk. He tried doing that stupid "fake to third, throw to first" routine that only idiots fall for and he not only didn't step completely toward 3rd base (balk), he also threw to Karros who was on the infield grass (also a balk -- gotta be near an occupied base).

Ditto. After both teams had so many chances to win it, it ends like that. Ugh.

Brandon Webb got one of the Padres runners doing that last weekend. It was quite funny to watch.

Since we're on the subject of pickoffs, I have always wondered this. When there is a full count and runner(s) on base with 2 outs, why dont they attempt a pickoff? They know the runner is going, so I would think it might be easier to catch someone.

I have seen it before, but you are right, it's less commonplace. Maybe the thinking is that you want the pitcher to concentrate on the hitter and throwing a strike, rather than what the runner is doing.
