I think this just about sums up all Laker's fans thoughts on the playoffs:

"If four Hall of Fame players plus one Hall of Fame coach doesn't equal an NBA title in a season when there are zero dominant teams, then the Atlanta Braves and Buffalo Bills have company. Even in a sports landscape pockmarked with flops, the underachievement would be unmatched."
-- Bill Plaschke, in his April 16 LA Times column, on what the Lakers' failure to win the NBA title this season would mean

Just in case people coming here didn't see this originally posted in the other thread:

http://www.latimes.com/sports/baske...orts-nba-lakers

NBA Playoff Notes

During the first round of the NBA playoffs, local carriers Channel 9 and Fox Sports Net can televise games alongside national cable networks ESPN and TNT. Only ABC games are exclusive during the first round. TNT's exclusivity takes effect in the second round, and ESPN's in the third. So the first two games of the Laker-Rocket series, besides being televised nationally, will be shown locally by Fox Sports Net with Sunderland and Stu Lantz.

The ESPN announcers for Game 1 will be Mike Breen and Bill Walton, and the TNT announcers for Game 2 will be Kevin Harlan and Doug Collins.

Game 3 at Houston will be on Channel 9 and ESPN, and Game 4 will be exclusive to ABC, with Al Michaels and Doc Rivers.

Fox Sports Net will have a special one-hour "Lakers Live" pregame show before Games 1 and 2, and a postgame show of at least half an hour for every Laker game throughout the playoffs, no matter who is televising it.

Channel 9 is still working out playoff coverage details, including what to do with an Angel-Oakland telecast scheduled opposite Game 3 on April 23.

It is going to be real weird watching a Laker game on Saturday night at 7:30 pm. I don't ever remember them being on that late. Sure they've played Saturday afternoons during the playoffs, but this just may be a first. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Watching Spurs kill Griz right now, I expect the rest of the series to be much closer.

This is my 3rd game of the day, Lakers vs Rockets is next, I can't wait.

Really wish Lakers would have gotten the 4th seed, Dallas would be a cakewalk in round 1, and the T Pups would be a lot easier than the Spurs in round 2.

Hopefully Van Gundy doesnt kill the pace too much and lets the rockets run a little bit. I hate his slow down, drag out mentality.
Kobe should light them up though.

THE NBA

ITS FANNNNTASTIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Malone got robbed on that offensive foul call....

Is that Steve Javie? This could be a long night....

EDIT: Kobe picked up his 2nd foul with 5:41 left in the first, he still hasn't attempted a shot.

Shaq was dribbling down the floor and threw it right to Francis who took it and got fouled.

Malone on fire tonight, He keeps on putting up 15-18 foot bricks, at least 5 of them so far, bad turnover, offensive foul on what should have been a layup. He needs to pass the ball, and rebound, that is what he does best.

And...

Someone needs to give Steve Javie and his crew the memo, that its doesn’t help the league when on the opening day of the playoffs there are 3 blowouts, then in the 4th game, Yao and Kobe get in early foul trouble on horrific calls. ATTENTION, this is not good for the game. These are two big stars.

If I was David Stern I would have his a$$.

Crappy end to the 1st quarter....Lakers led by 8, and only lead by 2 now. Finished the quarter by missing 7 of 8 shots.

At least they're ahead....for now.

Malone is blowing, if anyone on the Lakers is going to shoot the 1 on 1 jumper it should be Kobe.

Malone needs to pass the ball, instead of brick layups that cause fast breaks, and miss wide open 15 footers. He needs to understand his strengths.

Pretty slow game...

Francis has gotten away with like 3 travels so far....

Lots of turnovers for both sides...

I still like him to shoot. After all, he is the 2nd career leading NBA scorer. He'll make his shots.

Rockets doing what they do best, throw the ball in the stands.

Medastinko with the jumper off the brilliant pass by KB. Lakers up by 2.
