You know what would be a great, original angle? Austin is gone from the WWE, but then he comes back.

Again!? Is it just me, but he was putting on the weight around the gut. Seems like there aren't too many big wrestlers out there now.

I think Austin will be back, he's just pulling a Michael Jordon.

I knew that there was trouble with contract negotiations but I thought that SC moved more merchandise than anybody else (by a wide margin). I guess he just got a little unreasonable with his demands. Oh well, he hasn't really been entertaining since the whole 'what' thing took off (although I did love his little run as a heel during the invasion).

My interest in wrestling has rapidly declined over the years, but I found the "What" thing Austin did to be incredibly annoying. Glad to see him gone, bring back Shamrock!

SC stuff sold like hotcakes. The word is that he wanted rights to the name , ala "The Rock", but WWE said hell no. I can understand both sides. Unlike The Rock, Austin wasn't about to go mainstream and the only way he was gonna keep bringing in the dough was to keep doing shows.

I can't really say that I will miss him since he doesn't wrestle anymore

I have to believe that the WWE are going to lose a lot of money off his merchandise though....

Well, Vince is more then capable of creating NEW "Stone Colds's".

Who doesn't think he has a winner with John Cena? Once he improves his IN RING work, he will be a major player.

SB has quite a bit of hope too, if they continue to push him right. They need to put a strap around him soon, or this push will mean nothing. He needs to start a program with Orton. At that point, they need to create a "horsemen" type program with him, where he can't breath without one of evolution taking a shot at him. At that point, H will no doubt have gotten the title back, and they can go on for a year or so with SB. Like Sting and Lugar, he has that appeal. He can go to 60 min draws with H, ala Flair/Sting, where as H can not beat him, but SB can not win the belt, thus buliding SB's character, but continuing the story. It can be an interesting storyline completing at the Great American Bash.....err say, Wrestlemania where he FINALLY can put H'sshoulders to the mat again for the big pay off.

Big loss for WWE. Hated the Sheriff gimmick but I really missed Austin the last few weeks. I kept waiting for him to show up.

The Rock proves that Vince can't make them like nothing. Stone cold and the whole steve austin money maker is something rare.

I wont miss Austin since he had his moments and well he hasn't done much lately. But it will be a Looooong time before Vince can create another Stone Cold.

^Now that's funny. Orton doesn't have near the mic skills as Rock and that is half Rock's appeal. And I'm talking early Rock. That stuff comes from charisma and Orton doesn't seem to have it.

Plus, Orton doesn't have the ring speed that Rock or Austin have. Those guys could carry a match. The best Orton hopes for is to stay concious in his matches.

John Cena is the next Rock as of right now. Can't wait to see him here on July 6(my first tv event). I think Stone Cold's "Sheriff" gimmick was just plain stupid.

Had to happen eventually...Stone Cole is an Attitude era star...his character defined it...and his character needed to be redone in some fashion...or gotten rid of.

Wrestling goes through these phases...in the early 90s the WWF was just a joke...super cartoony characters trying to act as if the 80s never ended.

Austins character was in many ways the Hogan of the 90s...he carried the WWF in the late 90s...in this new era his character...while still entertaining at times, is out of place.

Ebb and flow.

I doubt there will be another Rock..........wish he was still wrestling. Looks like the WWE is losing all the big names.

BTW where's Hogan now?

The Rock'll be back...when he's done filiming his next movie.

It's funny. During his last run-in before WMXX, there were some that didn't appreciate his coming and going whenever he had something to push. What they failed to realize is that [besides the Rock pushing over lesser talent], Vinnie Mac is invested in the Rock's movie career. He produced his past two movies.

As for Hogan, last I heard is that he was injured and fighting off dirty old men that wanted to date/do his 15 year old daughter.
