Did anyone see what Bob Sura did?

In last night's game, he was one rebound shy of getting his third consecutive triple double. So with approximately 4 seconds left in the game, the Hawks inbound the ball full court to Sura, and he bricks a finger roll on purpose and gets the rebound to get the triple double on purpose. The other team (I forgot who they were playing) should've knocked him on his ass like Deshawn Stevenson tried to do to Ricky Davis last year. Ricky Davis was stupid for trying to do it last year, but at least it was funny because he wound up not getting the triple double.

EDIT: Looks like the NBA took away his triple double.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=1781342

ATLANTA -- The NBA took away Bob Sura's third straight triple-double Tuesday, ruling he shouldn't get credit for one rebound because he intentionally missed a shot just before the buzzer.

...

But the NBA said his tactics in the Hawks' 129-107 win over New Jersey on Monday violated the rule that states, "A field goal attempt is a player's attempt to shoot the ball into the basket for a field goal."

Since Sura wasn't trying to make the shot, the NBA said, he shouldn't get credit for a field goal attempted. Therefore, there was no rebound.

At least he didn't do it to his own basket.

I guess when you suck as bad and as long as the Hawks have, you grasp at anything that will keep you from going behind the arena and shooting yourself.

Pathetic.

Hell maybe the Nets wanted to see the triple double as well?

NBA disallows triple double by Hawks G Sura
http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slu...v=st&type=lgns

April 13, 2004
NEW YORK (Ticker) - Bob Sura called it a "reactionary thing" after intentionally missing a shot and grabbing his own rebound to record a triple double on Monday night. The NBA wasted little time reacting to it.

The league on Tuesday disallowed a missed field goal attempt and ensuing rebound which gave the Atlanta Hawks guard a triple double in the closing seconds of a 129-107 victory over the New Jersey Nets.

Sura grabbed a long outlet pass with five seconds to play, then purposely missed a lefthanded layup before collecting the rebound.

"The ball slipped out of my hands ... no, it was just a reactionary thing," Sura said after his intentional miss. "It doesn't happen too often, the guys were screaming at me to do it, so it was a reactionary thing."

The NBA rule book states that "A field goal attempt is a player's attempt to shoot the ball into the basket for a field goal."

The league ruled that Sura did not attempt a field goal, and therefore there was no rebound.

With the NBA ruling, Sura finished with 22 points, 11 assists and nine rebounds instead of 10 and was denied the honor of becoming the first player to post three consecutive triple-doubles since Grant Hill from April 11-14, 1997.

Glad the NBA didn't give it to him - that was a lame move on his part.

That's funny, I see blatantly selfish/childish behavior in pretty much every professional sport.

Sure. Of course there are not 345,768,977 other factors that makes those other sports unwatchable.

You'd think crap like that would make it watchable. I'd pay to see Sura given a mouthful of elbow

I don't really care one way or the other. If he shot it, even if was meaningless, then it's still a board in my book

yep
So, on a stupid behavior scale of -10 to 10 (-10 being extremely stupid; 0 being not stupid; 10 being very intelligent):
Ricky Davis = -10
Bob Sura = -9
Kobe Bryant's adultery = -8
NBA taking away Bob Sura's Triple Double = 10

You're a Laker fan. You have no place to comment on the intelligence of others, since you clearly possess none.

I agree...and i still go to about 5 games a year....and every time I wonder why I go to NBA games...pure crap...maybe it's just to go do something different that night...most likely because I used to go to a lot of Celtics games in the 80's and hoping I would see it again (that includes watching the Jordan era Bulls as well)... but no...the NBA can fold for all I care.

I can't help it, I'm in a "Jordan-in-Game-1-of-the-'92-NBA-Finals" type zone.
