Please no Monday Night games for the Skins (particularly home ones). As many 1 pm Sunday home games as possible, please.

The NFL is apparently trying to do their own version of CBS/NCAA's announcement of the March Madness Brackets.

They are televising the revelation of the NFL schedule instead of just putting it out there in a press release like they have done every year in the past.

Oh, yeah. Duh. I guess Im slow today.

But if its like anything else the NFL does, the teams will release the schedule before the NFL does and ruin the surprise. Thats usually what happens for the ProBowl selections.

I saw somewhere a few weeks ago what teams play who, and how many times, but not when and where. That is what the schedule is for, I guess

I remember because I was hoping the 49ers played the Eagles or Cowboys, but alas, they play neither.

14 out of each team's 16 opponents are known for every year until (I think) 2007 or 2008...

I never cared to look before, so it was new to me

Also, I saw all 16, not just 14.

You saw all 16 for 2004. You can only know 14/16 for the years beyond that to 2009 since 2 games are based on where you finish in your division the prior season.

Acc'd to USA Today, there will be a Christmas Day (Saturday) doubleheader on CBS then ESPN starting at 5 pm! First time that the NFL will be playing x-mas day games since 1971. That is a nice X-mas gift - something I've always wanted them to do - although I would prefer it started earlier like T-giving.

I guess the NBA won't be doing a X-mas day doubleheader this year.

Also, FOX will offer a nationally televisied game on X-mas Eve (Friday) at 3 pm.

More on this. Looks like KC will be hosting one of the X-mas Day games.

NFL Schedule to Feature Christmas-Day Doubleheader

By Mark Maske
Washington Post Staff Writer
Wednesday, April 14, 2004; 1:14 PM

The NFL's schedule for the 2004 season will include a Christmas Day doubleheader, with one of the games perhaps to be held in Kansas City.

The league plans to announce the schedule during a 5 p.m. telecast today on the NFL Network.

Each team's opponents for next season have long been known, having been determined by last season's standings. So it will come as no surprise, for instance, that the Baltimore Ravens will play in Philadelphia against the Eagles in what could be billed the "T.O. Bowl'' -- a matchup of wide receiver Terrell Owens's new team (the Eagles) against the club for which he refused to play (the Ravens). The only revelation will be the date and time of the game.

Nor is it surprising that there will be games on Christmas since the holiday falls on a Saturday this year and the league generally schedules late-season games on Saturdays. The Chiefs reportedly were notified by the league some time ago to prepare for a home game on the evening of Dec. 25, and Boston-area newspapers have speculated that the Super Bowl-champion New England Patriots might be the opponent.

The Christmas games will be at 5 p.m. on CBS and 8:30 on ESPN, USA Today reported today, adding that Fox will have a 3 p.m. game on Friday, Dec. 24. It will be the NFL's first Christmas doubleheader since the 1971 playoffs, when Miami and Kansas City played a two-overtime game. All of the games the following weekend will be on Sunday, Jan. 2, to avoid a conflict with the New Year's Day college bowl games on Saturday, Jan. 1.

The NFL previously announced that the 2004 season would begin with a Thursday night game for a third straight year, with New England hosting the Indianapolis Colts on Sept. 9 on ABC in a rematch of last season's AFC Championship Game. The games on Sept. 12, the first Sunday of the season, will include Dallas at Minnesota on Fox and Kansas City at Denver in the ESPN night telecast. The first Monday night game of the season will be Green Bay at Carolina on Sept. 13 on ABC.

It's called surfing football message boards.

4 of the potential openers (NYG, PHI, BAL, and CIN) can be ruled out for my Skins now. Could we see a Cowboys-Redskins Parcells v. Gibbs opener at FedEx?

edit: Oh and I thought I might drop this in.....
