Broncos, Bengals swap No. 1 draft picks

The Associated Press

CINCINNATI - The Denver Broncos and Cincinnati Bengals swapped first-round draft picks in a trade Friday that also sent cornerback Deltha O'Neal to Cincinnati and gave the Bengals an additional fourth-round pick from Denver.

**********************************************

This is crap! All Denver did was move up 7 spots to a still-below-10th pick spot.... O'Neal wasn't THAT great, but he was worth more than this! #*@%@#(%@#% (not even counting the 4th round pick)

All depends on who Denver is targeting in the draft. They may feel that getting the player they want, and who would otherwise not be available to them, is worth the loss of O'Neal.

I think its stupid to trade draft picks this far away from the draft, unless it's number 1. There wasnt a need for Denver to move up, yet. They have no idea who will be on the board when they pick, so they should have just negotiated and finalized a deal on draft day.

Plus, they screwed up the mock draft.

True but Marvin can turn O'Neal back into a Pro-Bowl corner and they got a 4th rounder to boot.

I have a severe dislike of the Denver Broncos. Any stupid move is a good thing in my book.

O'Neal was expendable with the addition of Bailey. But I too think they could have gotten more for him. I expect that they moved up so they can get one of the 4 top WR's in the draft. With McCaffrey gone, and Smith getting older, and Lelie yet to break out, they probably want an upgrade.

Edited to add: I thought they moved from 17th to 10th, not from 24th to 17th. SO my comment about WR's is probably off base, since none of the top 4 is likely to last that long...

I'm thinking they're gonna go for a RB ... since Garrison Hearst, well, sucks...

well since Denver tried to change O'Neal into a WR I'd say his stock has fallen hard. Still, a 4th rounder is something and there isn't likely a huge difference between 17 and 24
