Not at all. I could care less... let that happen in the background. I can't wait to get out to the stadium the first time this season.

No, because I'm a true fan of the game. And not every player is on 'roids.

I guess you can hold your head up high because you truly are better than anybody else in the world.

I never implied or said that. Nothing would make me stop watching baseball. Not a strike, not a controversy. Nothing. That's how much I love the game.

If you can't respect that then I suggest you suck my balls

I'm getting tired of hearing about it. It's not going to ruin the baseball season for me, but I know it's not going to go away and I'm gonna get real sick of it being discussed all season long.

It concerns me that they need to get the problem fixed, but I couldn't agree more with the second part of your statement.

I'm concerned about steroid use. I think it cheapens the game and alot of the stats. When I was a kid, it was always nice to hear stories about the great players my dad and grandfather saw play. Unfortunately, the stories my kids are going to hear, are going to end with "but he was on steroids."

The biggest issue I see is that _anyone_ who hits a lot of home runs, or who heels quickly will be accused of taking steroids. It will be true in some cases, but not in others.

Case in point, I look at hometown boy Phil Nevin. They guy heels _incredibly_ quickly. To be fully recovered from a separated shoulder in 3 weeks, wow, that's insane. Is he on juice, or is he just an amazingly fast healer? Well, given the steroid issue, the assumption is that he's on the juice.

Cecil Fielder:

"When I hit 51," Fielder told the newspaper, "it was the first time anybody had broken 50 in, what, almost 30 years? Now you look at it and it's being done every year."

Fielder's 1990 total marked the first time since 1961 that an American League player had passed 50 home runs.

The baseball season opens in earnest Sunday amidst concerns that some of the game's best players have used performance-enhancing drugs, including steroids. Last year, MLB found that 5 percent to 7 percent of players tested positive for steroids, which prompted into effect the league's current drug testing policy.

To add fuel to the fire, a federal investigation of BALCO, a Burlingame, Calif., nutritional supplements company, turned up evidence that a number of elite athletes, including home run king Barry Bonds, Jason Giambi and Gary Sheffield, have been involved with the company. Bonds' personal trainer has been implicated in the scandal.

"Barry Bonds hitting 73 home runs. Mark McGwire hitting 70. That's outrageous," Fielder told Florida Today. "For a guy who hit 50, I can tell you that that's a task in itself. For a person to hit 70 home runs in a single season, that is outrageous."

While he believes Bonds is "probably the greatest pure hitter" he's ever seen, Fielder told the newspaper that he had to wonder if that many home runs were really possible without pharmaceutical assistance.
pharmaceutical assistance

Baseball really has to institute strict drug testing or else every guy who hits well, inuures himself with regularity, or heals quickly will be accused of taking the juice.
