cbs votes not to use a delay

http://sports-att.espn.go.com/ncb/nc...ory?id=1761670

Despite an earlier report to the contrary, CBS has decided not to use a 10-second delay for any games in the NCAA Tournament.

The New York Times reported on Monday that CBS had chosen to use a 10-second delay during the Final Four in San Antonio, in the wake of Janet Jackson's breast-baring incident during the Super Bowl halftime show on Feb. 1.

CBS vice president Martin Franks originally told The New York Times that a delay would be used. However, the network will not go that route.

"Sports events should be telecast live," CBS Sports vice president LeslieAnne Wade told USA Today on Tuesday. "Everybody is following the game on radio and other broadcast outlets [like the Internet]."

Radio is always on a 7 second delay. It's annoying to watch a game on tv while listening to it on the radio -- though I do like radio broadcasters more.

My dad has Direct TV, I have cable. His Direct TV is 4 seconds behind my cable. We were watching the same game, and I was bitching at stuff before he saw it, then we compared game clocks and he had a 4 second lag.

So if cable does have a lag, satellite has a greater lag. Not that it matters one way or the other.

yeah, no delay for the games, but a delay during the final four?
lets have one of the coaches go and start swearing during a regular game.

I wish they had chosen to use a delay. Maybe they could have fixed the ending to Kentucky-UAB.

Some bastard put a sign on my office door that says UAB in big letters.

<--- Still confused as to why media stations in america choose to buy exclusive rights to a tournament, then DOESN'T show 3/4ths of the games. Don't even get me started on the olympics...

That has been annoying me to no end. Why did they get rid of that? Technology is supposed to go forward, not backward.

I bet it is in their contract that they can't do that, so that DirecTV can sell more packages.

PS:

Im still waiting for them to start superimposing lines on the screen during the game so I can see where the players feet were when he took the shot and to show the arc to the basket
