The way the Yanks are playing, I'd be happy if they just win the game.

Odd, I'd be happy if they never win again.

Well it doesn't look like the weather will let up so I don't think there will be a game today.

Hopefully, Clemens wins tomorrow, I would love to see his 300th win be against the Red Sox, and hopefully he can pitch a complete game. And hopefully there will be some offense behind him.

Doppler is showing the rain is just about over, so we still have a chance. Perhaps the question is whether the field will be playable...

With all the pitches Roger is throwing, Yankees better score some runs early because at this rate, there's no way Roger is going to last more than 6 or maybe 7 innings.

what a catch by Matsui, but RedSox add one more.

Roger's pitch count is getting up there.

Wow, what a catch by Matsui!!

And when he got up, didn't it look like he was going to throw it into the left field stands? He didn't know what direction he was facing when he got up.

75 pitches through 3 innings.

He might not even make it through 5.

And it might be because the Red Sox knock him out.

Rob Neyer had a great article today on espn.com on whether the Rocket is the greatest pitcher since 1945.

It's interesting to see his stats compared to the greats. I know that many times I can't fathom a present day player in the same league as the legends. What is impressive about Clemens is that he would seem to fall into the mold of power pitchers, but his fork ball, IMO, has put him into the situation that he is in. If you look at the first player he is usually compared with, Nolan Ryan, you see a pure power pitcher with a good curve and decent off-speed stuff. But Ryan was prone to getting tagged for big runs because curve balls can hang, and big league hitters can get around on fast balls. Clemens uses that split-fingered pitch so beautifully, and frustratingly when you're rooting against him. It's the out-pitch that most power pitchers just can't go to. And most pitchers in general simply can't rely on having that pitch work the majority of the time. It's really something to see. I don't know if he is the best ever, but he is in good company.

I have no love lost for the guy. Interestingly, I dislike him more as an Astros fan than a Sox fan. But he's deserving of what he'll accomplish either today or soon enough.

Hey, 300 wins trivia question. (for those who are NOT watching the game on NESN. )

Who is the only pitcher to get his 300th win in Yankee Stadium?
