Sorry to hear about the Sheik, but Jesus Christ man, wanna link to a site that actually covers the story, and not to one that brings up bajillions of pop-ups, and doesn't even say a word about the Sheik?

Although I haven't been there in a long time, I remember Wrestlezone as being a decent site. Habs posted the text of the article from there, but if you want to go directly to it, the link is http://www.wrestlezone.com/articles/44922386.php and I only get one popup when I click on it.

Okay, bajillions may be stretching it, but I just got four going to the link you posted Andy. Maybe I need some anti-pop-up software.

He was one of the all-time greats and people seem to forget about him.He owned wrestling in Detroit in the mid-60's thru the mid-70's.I seen him wrestle once live against Dory Funk Jr and I will never forget it.

In response to previous post, this was not the Iron Sheik.

This guy was sorta like Abdullah the Butcher, in the sense that he was big on wielding weapons in the ring, stabbing people with forks and things of the like. I should say, at least from what little of his matches I saw.

Also from what I saw, he didn't seem to be much of a "wrestler" in the sense of wrestling skills, as I said, he appeared to just beat the bejesus out of his opponents, and anyone else in the way. Am I wrong in thinking he wrestled until the very end almost? Most recent wrestling I saw him in was in ECW when he was tagging with Kevin Sullivan.

Oh yeah, also, Sabu (from ECW fame etc.) was billed as his nephew. Don't know if that was true in real life, I don't recall Sabu's real name.

Holy pop-ups! I take it this was not Iron Sheik, since I know he has a Persian name - he was my favorite as a kid.
