Anyone know if Lance Armstrong is retiring?

Is it true that Lance Armstrong is planning on retiring after the Tour de France this year?

If there are links to coverage or statements he's made, I'd appreciate it.

Living in Austin, and not having heard a peep about it, I'd say nothing has been released yet. But I'll keep my ear to the ground.

Last I heard, he wanted two more victories, so that he would be the only six-time winner of the Tour. Plus, if he gets it in the next two years, he'll have the longest string of consecutive victories.

I haven't heard anything about this either. Would be pretty sure it'd be huge news here in Austin.

A friend of mine said she saw an interview on television in which he stated he's considering retiring after the Tour this year. I'm wondering if she heard him wrong. Why retire a year before he could make such a huge record?

The only reason why I could see him retiring after this Tour is due to the crap he has to deal with in France. The French media really comes down on him; accusing him of doping, etc.

I think he'll go for two more victories and then retire. I've also heard that he may go back to triathlons after he retires from pro-cycling. He's done a few duathlons around here and generally does pretty well.
