McGahee surgery a success; Clarett wants to be a linebacker

McGahee has 2 torn ligaments repaired.

Clarett wants to follow in footsteps of teammate Gamble.

This kid's never going to make it to the NFL intact. He's already playing the most physically damaging position in the game, and now he wants to play linebacker? The difference between WR/CB and RB/LB is staggering.

Agree completely. Judging by his performance against Miami, I would think he would be better off concentrating on becoming a better running back.

Clarett is such a moron. He'll get killed in the NFL if he gets there.

Clarett should keep his mouth shut.

This from a Buckeyes fan. I think he's jealous of Chris Gamble getting so much attention for being a 2-way (3-way including special teams) player and getting the Heisman attention.

Has there ever been an unsuccessful sports surgery?

And I agree that Clarett is at times a moron, but he will most definitely play in the NFL very soon. Perhaps after next season. He will do well.

Challenging the NFL's draft policies would probably take a while in court, so it'd open the doors for players in the future, but he's stuck in college till the end of his junior year.

I wasn't really a Clarret fan, but this quote "I'm too much of an athlete just to play on one side of the ball." makes me even less of a fan.

Clarett "This doesn't mean anything to me," Clarett told the Plain-Dealer. "I just want to go home."
The national title?!?!!? What would???

That a tard...

Like clemente points out...Clarett's comment "I'm too much of an athlete just to play on one side of the ball." is one of the most arrogant statements I have seen from a college athlete....

You CAN enter the draft after your Sophomore year, as long as you are 3 (2?) years out of high school.

Clarett reminds me a lot of Marcus Dupree.

A whole world of talent, but a head case.

I hope I'm wrong, but I would be shocked if his overall football career when he is done playing is not a disappointment.

Clarett would make an excellent linebacker, given the way he doesn't get injured every time someone touches him. ..... D'oh!

The guy (Clarett) ain't the sharpest tool in the shed. A shame, really, because his talent is pretty unbelievable.

I have to keep telling myself, "He's only 19." Maybe with some more maturity, he'll learn to keep his mouth shut. Or maybe he'll be the next Deion Sanders (attitude-wise).

I do have to wonder about the whole "this means nothing to me" and leaving immediately after the game story. I haven't seen any context for his statement... and he was interviewed at the stadium by Corso, Fowler, Herbstreit quite a while after the game (45 min - 1 hour?).

Hell, he spent most of his time behind the line of scrimmage as a running back against Miami. That type of ability will pay off as a linebacker.

McGahee took out a 2.5 mililion dollar insurance policy before the Fiesta Bowl. Even if he never plays again, his financial security is assured (unless he blows the money).

Good news that he will get something.. Unfortunate that agents will probably see most of that, somehow...

(also 2.5 mil is nothing compared to what he was worth, wish him luck on recovery )
