I too thought he'd be better off staying, but he definitely knows the current situation at Florida a hell of a lot better than I do. Never been a huge fan of Grossman, but he handled himself very well this season considering everything that was going on, especially spending most of the season on his ass after his O-line went out for pizza during games. The guy's got a great arm and solid skills; I'm sure there's an offense just waiting to use him in the future.

I don't think there was a doubt he was coming out, but I think he is making a mistake.

Bengals need a new owner/GM. Until that happens, the players don't matter.

I'm not surprised though he should have stayed after this past season. He made a mistake not coming out last year.

They're probably going to land Chris Leak, one of the top HS QB's, tommorrow when he announces and Gavin Dickey came in last year so they're not going to be hurting at QB.

If they spend a first round pick on him, I will not be happy. I don't mind drafting him later on.

I think he is right for entering the draft - I don't see his stock rising with another year playing for Ron Zook.

in spurrier's defense....

he picked up mathews and weurffel last year because they had a big question mark at qb.. and those 2 guys were extremely dirt cheap.. so they didnt lose anything, by giving them a shot.. he knew he didnt have cap room to bring in a real qb, so he took a gamble on some guys he knew already.. didnt work out very well for him.. I really would be surprised to see them pick up grossman, but if they did.. there Im sure spurrier will receive alot more criticism, if rex doesnt perform

Same here. The Skins did draft Ramsey last season and he looked pretty good (when he wasn't having 4 int games ) so they have their QB of the future...but who knows maybe they trade Ramsey in some kind of package so they can draft Grossman.

That officially ended at the start of this season.

Why would he want to come out the same year as Dorsey, Sims, etc.?

There is about 5 or 6 QBs that will get drafted over this clown,he led the league in INTs and is over rated as much as Dorsey.

I just read that Chris Leak will announce his verbal committment to the school he's attending.
http://espn.go.com/recruiting/s/2003/0105/1487511.html

If Leak committs to Florida, losing Grossman won't hurt. Leak is a stud.

One of our local news stations just reported that he Packers, on the advice of Ron Wolf, are going after Grossman now. Tomorrow Brett Favre will hold a press conference in which he may announce his retirement.

wow.. that would be a bit of a surprise

i wonder if he was planning to retire the entire time.. but let out that he would retire if they won the superbowl to try and pump his teammates up, to send him out on top.

Packers noticed Favre wasn't himself down stretch

Packers quarterback Brett Favre recently has said he will play next season, but there was a smattering of speculation inside Green Bay's locker room following Saturday's wild-card playoff loss to the Falcons that he is contemplating retirement.

A Packers spokesman said Favre will be available to the media on Monday.

Though Favre is expected to continue playing, several Green Bay players, coaches and front-office personnel have noted he's been fairly lethargic for much of the season's second half.

Regardless of Favre's status, the Packers have all but decided to use their first-round draft pick on a quarterback.

One quarterback on their radar screen is Florida's Rex Grossman, who confirmed Saturday that he is skipping his senior season and headed for the NFL draft.

Former Packers GM Ron Wolf, a consultant to the team, told me this week that Grossman reminds him of Favre more than any college quarterback he's seen in the past 10 years.

The Packers are picking in the bottom of the first round, but it is a quarterback-rich draft, so the idea of Grossman being available isn't far-fetched.

I would be shocked if he didn't go there. I read he allready made up his mind based on the final letters he got and one of the schools told him he would start right away. I imagine it was Zook since he needs something big to happen since he's on very thin ice with the UF people and could use something like this to help save his job.

In his first series in the East vs. West Army All-Star game, Leak was amazing.
