Good win for NC State. I wish we could have had a more realistic game. Notre Dame started the game without both of their starting Tackles and then lost their starting TE and QB in the first quarter.

For a team that struggles on offense when healthy, there's just no way you're going to be able to score points under those conditions.

Meanwhile, Auburn posts a late TD (but blows the 2-pt conversion).

Notre Dame played like crap!!!!

Why is it every time I bet on teams that I hate, they choose that time to turn in a horrible performance.

Congrats to NC State for making the most out of their opportunity. Of course, I still don't think they deserved that opportunity.

I can't believe that the ACC is now 4-2 in bowl games.

Final Rushing Numbers:

Ronnie Brown - 37 carries, 186 yards, 2 touchdowns

Larry Johnson - 20 carries, 72 yards, 0 touchdowns

I feel really good about how the defense shut down LJ.. especially since a large chunk of his yards came during prevent time at the end of the first half

As I criticized in the Heisman discussions, the guy didn't do anything against good teams. Running up the yards against Big-10 bottom feeders may get you on television, but it doesn't help when you face a team that doesn't suck. So I'm not too surprised he got shut down.

Anyway, great win for Auburn. I had a hard time picking this game, because like all of the SEC West, you just never know which team will show up to one of their games.

Often with an unobstructed defender in his chest.

Yep and I feel bad for Grossman back there. It's like he has 3 seconds to throw and he will get hit on every play. That's why he is gone.

I was truly shocked at how well the Terps played. It was indeed distressing.

I'm happy today, though. My ribs turned out great - the Longhorns won - Notre Dame & Penn State lost.

Didn't I hear that they were bringing in at least 4 juco offensive linemen, though?

Out of principal, I picked against all SEC teams (even took Texas at 10.5 over LSU) - as I've said all year, I think the SEC and Pac-10 are both highly overrated as "strong conferences" this season. Had F$U not fallen apart off the field, I would have taken them over UGA, but after all that happened, even I'm not that stupid.

*sniffle* This is the worst part of every year ... the realization that college football season is essentially over. NFL playoffs, March Madness, blah, blah, blah ... just doesn't compare to Game Day on Saturday mornings. ;(

Yay ... I get to listen to the Rose Bowl through the words of two idiots. Where's Keith Jackson when you need him?

I really like Musburger and Danielson (who I think is the best football analyst, college or pro), however nothing beats Keith Jackson? Where is he? It is just not a Rose Bowl without Keith Jackson. Which bowl is he doing?

You really like Fuzzburger? He's the worst at telling you what actually happened. He just repeats whatever the officials do or guesses at stuff. If there's flag in the backfield, he just assumes it's holding: "there's a flag in the backfield ... must be holding." If it's something else, he just moves on. Never who was holding or what was going really going on. Also note that he can never tell if a field goal is good and often jumps the gun. He'll cry "TOUCHDOWN" when a guy's on the 15 and no one in the business says "the kick is up and good ... no wait ... it's wide!!!" Just watch how many times he'll get something completely and obviously wrong and then claim the officials "changed the call."

To each their own I guess. TV play-by-play guys don't have to tell me much especially in this day and age of the constant scorebox in the upper corner - I can see for myself what is going on. He and Gary will be doing the Colts/Jets game on Saturday as well so you'll get to hear him twice in 4 days. I'm glad too because they used to have the ESPN crew do one of the ABC wild card games. Mike Patrick is my favorite college basketball play-by-play announcer, but I can't stand him on NFL coverage.

Keith Jackson will be doing the Fiesta Bowl acc'd to abcsports.com. That's good news.
