Dec. 30, Music City & Seattle Bowls

Music City bowl, 2 PM ESt

Arkansas

Vs.

What will happen: It's hard to see how Minnesota can get this done. Arkansas is better in just about every phase, and has a running game that should cut through the Gopher run defense like a hot knife through butter. Minnesota could come up with a few big plays, but the steady diet of Hog running backs will get this done.
CFN Prediction: Arkansas 31 ... Minnesota 20

Seattle bowl, 5:30 PM EST

Oregon

Vs.

Wake Forest

What will happen: Oregon is going to put at least 31 points on the board. Wake Forest can't stop that. The question is whether or not the Ducks can keep Wake Forest from running the ball down their throats. This is the worst matchup possible for Wake Forest and the best for Oregon. If you were to ask the Ducks for the type of team they'd like to play, they'd say one that doesn't throw and runs exclusively, and has an average defense that's soft against the pass. Bingo. Wake Forest might be a smart team that comes out of nowhere to surprise, but Oregon is way too athletic and too fast for the Demon Deacons.
CFN Prediction: Oregon 34 ... Wake Forest 27

The question is whether Wake Forest will have more pts than fans in the stands in Seattle.

Go... um... I don't know who to support. Ducks I guess. Er... Ugh. Yeah, ducks. Go ducks.

Better stick with the Pac-10.

Not surprising that the Gaylord Hotels Bowl would have the gayest commercials of any bowl yet. Who the hell calls in sick from work to go on a road trip to Nashville? And I thought those Alamo Bowl commercials were annoying.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you the SEC West Champs* ... God, this is ugly. The SEC West utilizes one final chance to embarrass themselves on a national stage getting owned by a Minnesota team that did nothing all season, including a near loss to the worst team in the Big 10.

Dunno what the coach was thinking all game. I forget at what point of the season Arkansas was a passing team.

* Not counting Bama

I thought they abandoned it way too quickly, especially in the 2nd and 3rd quarters when the game was close. They dropped back to pass a LOT, and considering the way they dominated the opening drive, you'd think they'd show a little more confidence in the only offense they have that works.

Oregon can't stop anything right now and Jason Fife has been a complete headcase for the last half of the season. This game has potential to turn ugly.

Yeah, I think people forget how bad a football team Oregon was this season. Aside from that freakish win at UCLA (UCLA missed an extra point, the game winning field goal, and an inexplicable fake kick on 4th and long), they've done nothing all season.
