He's probably hoping for a Lord of the Rings IV. He'd be a shoe-in to play a hobbit.

Already out:
LeBeau: http://espn.go.com/nfl/news/2002/1230/1484285.html
Coughlin: http://espn.go.com/nfl/news/2002/1229/1483770.html
Campo: http://espn.go.com/nfl/news/2002/1228/1483419.html

As I said in the other thread Haslett should be fired. He should have been fired after last season but for some inexplicable reason, the Saints gave him an extension.

Look for Coughlin to join Bill Parcells wherever he ends up.

Sorry but even that did not get Spurrier excited

"It's hard for me to get excited about this," Spurrier said. "I know they've beaten us a lot, so don't get me wrong. They're still a 5-11 team three years in a row. Sometimes we maybe give Dallas too much credit, you know what I mean?"

Now Redskins fans are treated to beating the Cowboys and still being a .500 team? I am not looking forward to 4 more years of him.

I wish theyd get rid of some of the players, first. Wont say any names, but I cant stand (like it matters) a few of them. They may be "good" but not good enough for *me*

OK. I shouldn't say fire him. He should step down or become a GM. They are a few games the 49ers should have won if he didn't go with his conservative tactics. All three losses, Saints, Chargers, Packs are winable.

I would gladly take Mariucci to coach the Redskins. Niner fans are so spoiled.

spurrier isn't going anywhere for at least 2 more seasons. besides i think the skins will be a much improved team next year. and considering the parity in the league i don't see why they can't win 10 games. they have a few holes to fill and assuming they don't have to learn yet another set of offensive/defensive schemes they should get it together.

I thought that too until I looked at their schedule next season.

Home: Dallas, N.Y. Giants, Philadelphia, New Orleans, Tampa Bay, New England, N.Y. Jets, NFCW3

Away: Dallas, N.Y. Giants, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Carolina, Buffalo, Miami, Chicago

That is a tough schedule.

Sadly we are saddled with Spurrier for at least a few more years.

Actually, I think the Skins schedule was rather soft this year.

Yeah - I'm pissed that game isn't at home though. Unless they finish in identical positions in their division in the next 2 seasons (and even then it is not a certainty), Vick won't be making an appearance in DC until 2006.

As a life-long Saints fan, I probably can't piece together a coherent statement today, much less share a logical opinion on Haslett. I've seen it all with NO, and that means a lot of late game and late season collapses, but I have never been as angry and disgusted as I am with their performance in the second half of this season. And I love Jim Haslett. I don't want to see him go.

But two things are stark about this season (and last year's self-destruction): 1) His team gave up, pure and simple, in every game they should have won. Losing the last three games to whom they did the way they did is enough to put me in the ICU. And 2) He ran out a QB who was in no condition to be on the field. Of course, it's mostly hindsight, but Brooks is simply not consistent enough to be given the reigns when he can barely lift his throwing arm. I hear talking heads say that Jake Delhomme will start for a team in the NFL someday, but either Haslett has zero confidence in him, or he doesn't know his players. Putting Deuce out there with a bum ankle shows questionable guts, but putting a QB (who is known to make deadly mistakes when healthy) onto the field despite him having a crippled throwing arm is idiocy. I guess Tom Benson is going to have to make a decision, and I have to lean toward Haslett getting the boot.
