Now that's low: Broncos to claim Sanders on waivers?

Broncos, Titans, Patriots consider waiver claim -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ESPN.com news services The Denver Broncos, Tennessee Titans and New England Patriots are seriously considering making a waiver claim on Deion Sanders today in order to block the Raiders from acquiring the cornerback, ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli reports. The Redskins placed Sanders on waivers Monday, one day after Sanders disclosed that his lawyer and the Raiders had discussed bringing Sanders out of retirement to help Oakland's injury-depleted secondary. Teams have until 4 p.m. ET today to make a claim on Sanders and face no cap liability in doing so. They can simply put him on the retired reserve list, which the Broncos, Titans or Patriots probably would do if they decided to make a claim. Sanders said in a radio interview Monday night that the Packers also have shown interest in him coming out of retirement. Waiver claims are made in inverse order of standing, so the Broncos, Titans and Patriots would have a chance to block the Raiders (10-5). In an interview with Westwood One's Jim Gray during halftime of the radio broadcast of the Steelers-Bucs game Monday night, Sanders said that the Packers also were interested in him returning. The Packers (12-3) have a better record than the Raiders, however, so Oakland almost certainly would put in a claim before the Packers. Information from The Associated Press was used in this report. |
How is that low? The waiver system is working exactly as it should. When a player gets release, he must pass through it. It prevents a team from becoming stacked.

Well, if they need him, that's one thing. But if they snag him just so the Raiders don't, that's something different. 'Specially if they don't make the playoffs.

F'ing brilliant!!!
Go Broncos! The playoffs aren't for cherry pickers or Slimetime, its for guys who fought all season long to get there. |
sounds like the Broncos has been playing their fantasy football this year ;)

If somebody would just breathe on his big toe, he'd be debilitated again and we wouldn't have to go through all this mess.
BTW, don't you know that egomaniac is just beaming with all this attention? |
It was 5 different teams that claimed him.
San Diego, Kansas City, Indy, Pittsburgh, and Tennessee all put in bids. And this happens all the time in baseball in August. |

I like the raiders but that is funny. NFL owners must really love ol' Al Davis. |
Yeah, I'm a huge Raider fan, but that's pretty funny. Can't you see Prime Time freezing his ass off in Green Bay?
