Some HUGE games today, maybe we will see some teams clinch a playoff spot in the AFC.... or maybe not.

In the AFC west, we could easily end up with 3 teams with tying records at the end of the season.

Chargers and Kansas City. Oakland and Denver. Both Kansas City and Denver are in a *must* win. Only the Raiders can clinch a playoff spot if they win and Chargers lose or tie. But it is possible that the Raiders, if they lose today and next week, could be out of the playoffs.

If Denver and KC win,

Raiders 9-6
Denver 9-6
San Diego 8-7
KC 8-7

Parity Baby

Last week KC plays Oakland. If KC wins, they go to 9-7. Raiders stay at 9-7.
Arizona at Denver and Seattle at San Diego. San Diego could be 9-7. Denver could either be 9-7 or 10-6. In either case, they would win the division.

All big games today in the AFC West. If KC loses today, they are gone.

There they go ruining their first round draft pick.....guess we may still be in the running for it even with this second win under our belts.

Oh well....now we have won two games on the year.

They still control their own destiny on that so no big deal. Assuming Detroit gets the first pick (unlikely), still meaningless if Cincy intends to pick a QB since Detroit will not be taking a QB.

If Raiders win-

Raiders 10-6 (they win division)
San Diego 8-7
Kansas City 8-7
Denver 8-7

Setting up another huge weekend next week to determine wild cards.

Raiders playing KC and they could lose and end up 10-6 with KC going to 9-7.

If Chargers beat Seattle, we would be 9-7 also. So the Chargers appear to want the Raiders now to win both games and knock out Denver and KC.

That 'If' is looking like a 'When' now.

Pretty sure the Bengals clinched the #1 pick last week... If Detroit and Cincy tie for records, I believe Bungles get to ruin the #1 pick again, via the "better record within conference" tiebreaker.

They don't play in the same conference.

The tiebreaker for draft picks is strength of schedule. The team with the weaker strength of schedule gets the higher pick.

Denver's getting creamed

Watched the Indy-Giants game earlier, Manning flinging the INT's as usual. In the 4th quarter it got a little interesting, the Colts scored 2 TD's in 7 seconds. I think they were down 10 and the Giants had the ball. It was 3rd and 11 and in field goal range, they could onside it twice and score 2 TD's, so they had a slim chance, but that down Amani Toomer was WIDE open in the end zone, TD.

Didn't realize it but the Giants control their own destiny next week now that the Saints lost. That Eagles-Giants game is the first of the weekend (Sat at 1:30) - that will be a very interesting game.

Man this is getting ugly. Griese knocked out and Beuerlein sacked on his first 2 plays.

If the Vikes get a defense going, they could be a scary team.

So does the pack have homefield advantage throughout the playoffs? If so, they might as well pack their bags for San Diego.

Nope - they still need quite a bit of help to get it - they need the Eagles to lose next week and the Bucs to lose tomorrow or next week...then the Pack also have to win next week.

I seriously think that Tampa will lose this week against the Steelers and/or next week at the Bears. That should be enough to move the Pack to at least 2nd in the NFC. The Eagles may also have a tough time with the Giants next week...

Great win for the Raiders. Doesn't get any sweeter than clinching the AFC west with a season sweep of the Broncos.

Hopefully they kill the Chiefs next week and clinch the top seed. The old guys definitely need the bye to rest up (and hopefully get the DBs healthier) and I don't think anyone can beat the Raiders in Oakland in the Playoffs.
