He's a decent bat, though. And the Braves desperately need a 1B. I wonder if they made a run at him. Seems like Fred is now a free agent bat for hire.

there were rumors they were making a run at him

yea.. he still has a decent bat.. but not all that good.. I think any of the quality utility guys that the braves float around, could be up equal or greater numbers, if given a full season.. but those arent the kind of numbers I want to see out of a 1b

Haha, still gotta worry about Jose Canseco and Rickey Henderson.

I'm glad it didn't happy too since I'm hoping that the Braves trade for Dmitri Young or Robert Fick.

Doesn't Dmitri Young make like 7.5 million a season?

Now if only the Dodgers can get Mulholland and Orosco back. They could have a geriatric rivalry against the Diamondbacks.

I'm glad the Cubs dumped Crime Dog. This guy has no defense at all, never runs for anything. His numbers were okay but that was hitting with Sosa in the lineup. Not that impressive. What made it worse is that Baylor would not sit him and let Choi play to get some time in the majors till the end of the season.

Why yes, es he does. Thats why I'd be happy to see the Braves pick him up.

Non-Tender Free Agents
There are a few non-tenders that Atlanta could pick up to fill the hole at first. It looks likes the Tigers can't get anything for Fick now. Then there is Brad Fullmer and Travis Lee.

Not exactly great players but far better than the Franco platoon.
